Endangered Animals Open Day

On Friday 14th September, P7 showcased the work they had been doing on endangered animals. Parents were invited to an open morning which P7 planned and ran themselves. It started with a presentation in the small hall where parents learned all about a range of endangered animals through a powerpoint presentation, song and dance. After this, pupils escorted their parents back to the classrooms where they were invited to take part in a range of interactive games e.g. quiz, bingo, treasure hunt, matching games, powerpoints etc. Fun was had by all. It was then time to retire to the small hall for a well earned cup of tea and a biscuit. Monies raised from this will go towards supporting an endangered animal- still to be decided. Thanks to everyone who came along and supported this event and to our fantastic parent helpers. Mrs Lloyd and Mrs Balfour are very proud of the P7 classes for all of their hard work- well done.

Update From Ted E Bear

Ted E Bear has sent us another postcard saying that he has climbed all the way to the Emergent layer of the  rainforest.  He showed us pictures of the creatures he saw and asked us to find out about them.  We have enjoyed finding out about macaws, harpy eagles, hummingbirds and giant spiders.  We have sent copies of all of the fabulous information on the Olympic champions to him and we look forward to hearing what he thinks of our hard work.  Parents you can see your original work on display in school on the open day.

Weather Watch

Some children in P.3 are gathering information about the weather.  We are measuring the amount of rainfall and the temperature.  Some chidren are keeping a record of the types of clouds that we see in the sky.   Others are judging the force of the wind.

Today we looked at the BBC weather forecast for today and the next four days.

Let’s hope there is good weather for the holiday weekend.

P.3 Good All Rounders

This week we have created Class Charters (Rules) and are displaying them in our classrooms.

This is the first week that we have had to hand in Maths and Spelling homework and learn our spelling words.  To be a Good All Rounder we must do our homework neatly and hand it in on Friday.   We should learn our spelling words to the best of our ability.

Ted E Bear News

Last week we received a postcard from Ted E Bear.  He enjoyed the Olympics so much he has gone to Brazil to find out about where the next games will be held.  At the moment he is exploring the rainforest!!  We have written a letter to him telling him what we think he will see there.  We are really looking forward to hearing from him again and learning all about the animals and people in the rainforest.  We have even made a rainforest corner in our classrooms.
