Our First Week in Primary 2

Primary 2 have been working hard this week.  We have been revising addition to 10, showing our teachers how good our writing is, designing an ‘All About Me’ shield which shows some of our rights and finding out about our new classrooms!!  As well as all of this we have had P.E. (which we will have every Tuesday and Wednesday), German, Music, Assembly and we took part in the voting for the new House Captains and Vice Captains.

Next week we are looking forward to starting our new topic!!

P.3 visit Edinburgh Book Festival
On Wednesday 22nd August both P.3 classes went to the Edinburgh Book Festival to meet the author Chae Strathie and his friend Ollie. Chae Strathie read his books ‘The Loon in the Moon’ and ‘PING!’ He told us in an amusing way how he writes a story. We had to create and name a planet and an alien. The planet was named the ‘Toothbrush’ planet and the alien who lived on it was called ‘Harry Bumble‘.
At the end Chae read his book ‘The Jumblebum’ which is out in the shops in January 2013. We are the first people to hear this story!
The space theme in some of the books has encouraged us to do a space project.
We had great fun listening to Chae and Ollie

Kit Car Challenge

Ten pupils from Bankton Primary built a fantastic kit car at West Lothian College. With the help of college staff the children,6 boys and 4 girls, completed their task in just ten weeks. The process was filmed and made into a documentary by a local film maker. There was a spectacular Grand Prix Day for the whole school and invited guests with hot dogs and ice cream for everyone! Elaine Cook, Head of Schools, commended the children on their achievement and team work. The project was sponsored by Sir Arnold Clark
