Capacity Capers!

We have been learning about Capacity in Maths.  The P3s are finding out about litres and half litres while the P2s are comparing different containers.  We worked together today to sort this huge selection of containers from smallest to biggest.  First we had to estimate which contained the most and we placed them in the order we thought was correct.  Then we had to measure them with water to see if we were correct.  We were quite surprised by some of the results.

Here is the final order after testing (with the largest capacity starting at the top right and moving round in a clockwise direction).Rainbow & capacity 004

Clever Countdown Poem

Countdown Alliteration Poem

by Neo, Dean, Dylan

Ten terrifying tractors turning.

Nine nasty Nessies kneeling.

Eight annoying apes.

Seven slithering snakes sitting.

Six sneaky seals swimming.

Five fighting flies flying.

Four fit fish flipping.

Three thin thorns.

Two tiny tarantulas tricking.

One wobbly wall.

Egg-citing Stuff

We have been learning about our bodies and how to keep them healthy and safe.  We know that we need to look after our skull by wearing a helmet for activities such as cycling.

On Easter Monday we all designed, made and tested a ‘safety helmet’ for a hard boiled egg…some were more successful than others!  Here’s one that wasn’t so lucky…March 2016 062

Supporting Sport Relief

Thank you to everyone who wore red today, brought in a donation and participated in our P1-3 event.  We raised £30 as a class and will find out the overall total for the whole school next week.

While the big boys and girls were doing their mile at the Gytes (plus the walk there and back!) we had lots of fun in the playground.  We started off with a Zumba warm up where P3/2 helped Mrs Little show the other classes how to do the moves.  There was a lot of excellent shimmying and shaking!!!

We then headed off in year groups for a run around the whole school – TWICE!  We’ve been learning about keeping our bodies healthy this Block and we certainly did a lot of exercise this week!!

Our fantastic fiery dragon poem.

P3B Recipe for a Dragon

Take a hideous head.

Add fiery red eyes.

Stir in a big blue body.

Get spikes as sharp as swords.

Pour in scales as slimy as a slithering snake.

Mix in purple webbed wings.

Collect a twitching twirling twinkling tail.

Sprinkle in breath as hot as the sun.

Put in a very hot oven

and bake for a hundred years

and you will have made a DRAGON

Beware!

We have learned to write different kinds of poems: a list poem, a rhyming poem and a recipe poem.
