Nursery Provision

A message for category 1/2/3 Key Workers of Nursery Children

NLC have asked me to advise that all category I, 2 and 3 parents from today, can access nursery places at one of the Family Learning Centres if alternative childcare arrangements cannot be put in place. Can I please ask you to notify me if you intend to use this provision by emailing me in advance.  You cannot turn up without contacting me first. Thanks

Nursery Provision

Nursery Parents
If you and your spouse/ partner meet the criteria for key workers and you require care for a nursery child where no other alternative arrangements can be made, your child can attend a Family Learning Centre. In order for us to make the necessary arrangements for your child please email me at elainepaterson@langloan.n-lanark.sch.uk as a matter of urgency if you require this provision.

IDL at Home

A guide for using IDL at home for Distance Learning

Below is some advice for supporting your child when using IDL at home. If you have any other questions then please email customerservice@idlsgroup.com or call 01524 580665 and we will be happy to help. I will also be hosting a short 20 minute training session on Tuesday 31st March at 10am to chat through a few things that may help. We want your child to enjoy distance learning through IDL so we are always here to help and support in any way we can.

Tuesday 31st March 10:00am Online training session- (please click on the link below)

In the meantime here are our Top Tips

  1. When using an iPad please make sure that you have the updated app IDL2MOBILE that is 0.3

  1. Please make sure that when accessing through an internet server that you only use GOOGLE CHROME. This is the only one that will work. If you don’t have Chrome already it takes 2 minutes to download.

  1. If the student is struggling to move to the next lesson in Literacy please check that the blue assistance button on the right hand side of the screen is turned OFF in order to move forward.

  1. You need to enable the microphone on your device to enable the student to complete the record/playback section of the Literacy programme. This will be under the settings of the device.

  1. We recommend using IDL in 20-30 minute slots so that students don’t get distracted.

  1. If the child has access to headphones then this will be great for concentration on the task (and peace and quiet for the adults!)….if not, just ensure the sound is on.

  1. Please go to our website idlsgroup.com and under the ‘Resources’ section you will find useful documents and videos that go through how IDL works.

  1. Don’t worry about testing. This is something that a teacher can do with the student when they return to school, as testing twice per year is still adequate to monitor progress.

  1. Please do contact us if you need any guidance or advice, we are happy and able to help during this time and want your child to carry on learning and progressing through IDL.

  1. Take Good Care and Good Luck!

Message for P7

Morning P7 I have set up weekly challenges for Sumdog Maths, Reading and Spelling.  Remember to use the school closure tab on the blog to see a range of second level stuff as well as our P7 on the Glow Sharepoint.

You can contact me on Glow if you have any queries through the conversation feed on Sharepoint.  This can get busy and not all comments show immediately so please be patient as we try our best to respond to all of your messages.

Urgent- Glow Information

I am aware that some pupils had changed their passwords on Glow.  I had to reset all of the passwords back to the ones that were issued to you because I had to upload the Microsoft Team tile to every child’s account and this required me having access.  Going forward  it would be best if your child(ren) keep their password to the one issued as it means I can fix any problems that may arise.

We are trying to use the best method of digital learning for our pupils and families and we will keep you updated with ongoing arrangements as and when we have them.  At the moment you can still access online materials on Sharepoint and our school blog.  The Sharepoint resources will all be uploaded by Wednesday of this week and will be updated every Wednesday thereafter.

Can I ask that you get your child to check their personal launchpad when they next log in to glow.  This is the little symbol that looks like a person on the left of their screen after they enter their username and password.  In it they should find a tile called ‘Teams’.

If your child does not appear to have that tile can you please contact me through email – elainepaterson@langloan.n-lanark.sch.uk

Thank you

Mrs Paterson
