Child and Young person digital learning

ParentCarer Digital Learning

As you already know, our school will be using Microsoft Teams for digital learning, including the setting of homework.  The pupils have been using Teams in class and are familiar with logging in and using this platform to its full potential. Our class teachers in the junior and senior departments have helped them with this and have been covering key skills, such as, uploading photos, using the chat feature and completing polls etc. As you will appreciate, this is incredibly difficult to do in the infant department and at the moment the focus at this stage is to teach them how to read and write. There is however, a step by step Teams guide on our blog in the parent information tab to help our parents/carers in P1-3 support their child at home with this.  It is a great platform, which allows pupils, their peers and their teacher to communicate together too.

If you are having trouble downloading the Teams app or logging in please don’t hesitate to contact me for further support. elainepaterson@langloan.n-lanark.sch.uk

Room 1 Learning

Last week we focused on ordering numbers to 10 and reading and writing the common words we have learned. As homework starts online soon it would be a great idea to help our class sign into Teams at home this week and say hello just to make sure everything is working as it should. We hope you enjoy our video.

Homework

Dear Parent,

As you will have seen from emails sent out by the school, our homework programme will be starting after the September weekend. Due to the ongoing pandemic we are using Microsoft Teams to post our weekly homework tasks. Teachers will either assign work to the class Teams page and then your child can upload a photo of their homework into their own designated folder in the class files section or  teachers may also use the assignments tab to set homework, which keeps their work private and notifies the teacher as to when it has been handed in. The teacher will then provide feedback, which can be reviewed by the pupil.

It is best to download the Microsoft Teams app in preparation for this. If you are having trouble logging into Teams or require assistance please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to help. My email address is elainepaterson@langloan.n-lanark.sch.uk

Home Learning Resources

Dear Parent/Carer

We have now completed home learning grids for pupils who are working at home. You can find these learning grids and corresponding resources in your child’s Microsoft Team page in the files section. You will find this at the top of the class team page. Click files and then click class materials. You will then see a copy of the home learning grid and a folder that says home learning, in this folder you will find all resources and worksheets that are displayed in the grid. We have added them in case the links do not open in the grid.

On top of these class specific grids, we also have a school closure resources tab on our school blog, which contains early, first and second level resources that you can use. Class teachers have set Maths, Grammar and Spelling challenges on Sumdog and P3-P7 can access IDL and complete a few lessons each day.

If for whatever reason you are unable to access Teams or any of the resources, please email me or contact the school office to let us know. My email address is elainepaterson@langloan.n-lanark.sch.uk

Thank you for your patience and co-operation as we prepared and organised appropriate resources.

Thanks
