Primary 1b

Welcome to Primary 1b with Mrs Low!

Term 2 Newsletter – November

Hello again! The children have settled in really well after the October holidays. It has been wonderful start to the term with lots of Hallowe’en and Bonfire night fun. Our P.E. is on a Monday and a Thursday.  Please ensure that your child is in relaxed uniform coming to school and is not wearing any jewellery. As per Inverclyde Council Policy, we are unable to remove earrings. It was lovely to have some adults come to join us for Halloween Stay and Play. We will have our next Stay and Play on Friday 9th December at 2pm. Please note that we only have space for 1 adult per child. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

How you can help at home

It is important to practise the sounds and common words when they are sent home. Counting forwards and backwards will help us with adding and subtracting later on and it is really helpful if we can start and stop at different numbers. The best thing you can do to support your child in Primary 1 is to read to them daily. When at the shops you could help your child identify different coins and allow them to help pay for small items. At bath time it would be great if children could measure the capacity of familiar objects e.g. how many cups will it take to fill the jug etc.

You can also keep up with our learning journey by following our Twitter pages, @P1aNewarkPS (Mrs Heron P1a), @MrsLow98 (Mrs Low P1b), @MrsDyerNewarkPS (Mrs Dyer P2/1) and @MrCoyle_Newark (Mr Coyle RCCT).
