ICT with Mr Coyle

Term 3 – 2024-25

This term I will be back working with P4-7, providing them with opportunities to explore technology and the software we have available to us. All children will have a focus on Internet safety as part of the whole school participation in Safer Internet Day.

Primary 4 will focus mainly on the scratch software and using this to learn basic code. Through this they will learn how to create code for basic actions and games. They will also have the chance to further their use and confidence in using different aspects of the Microsoft package from term 1.

Primary 5 will focus on using Microsoft coding to create games, through a partnership with My World of Work. They will also be using the iPads to create movies using the iMovie app. This will allow them to create their own pieces of work documenting different areas of the curriculum.

Primary 6 and 7 will begin the term by beginning how to use Micro:bit chips to write, adapt and repurpose code for a purpose. We will use different features of the micro:bits to create step counters, night lights and sounds. We will also look at how we can use excel to display data. Both year groups will complete the Gen+ unit of collaboration as they work towards understanding their meta skills and what goes along with this.
