Highholm opened as Highholm higher grade school in 1909 and then became Port Glasgow high school in 1927. After this, it became St Stephen’s junior secondary school and then St Stephen’s high school. Finally, it became Highholm primary school but closed its doors in 2008 when Newark opened.
