What a busy and exciting week we have had in Room 4!
Literacy
Primary 1 have been enjoying learning all about the farm. We read A Squish and a Squeeze and had lots of fun learning the words to Old MacDonald Had a Farm. We also discovered the names of different farm animal babies and loved acting like the animals and making their different noises!
Primary 2 have been consolidating their learning of the ‘wh’ and ‘ph’ sounds. They worked together in lots of active and engaging ways to practise their common words, developing both their reading and writing skills.
Numeracy
In Primary 1, we have been practising recognising, counting and forming the numbers 3, 4 and 5. The children particularly enjoyed listening to the Number Zoo stories that go along with each number.
Primary 2 have been learning all about partitioning numbers into tens and ones. They have also been exploring numbers that are more than, less than and equal to. There has been lots of fantastic mathematical thinking and discussion!
Pupil Voice
We asked the children what they have enjoyed this week, and here is what they had to say:
- TC: “I liked singing songs at assembly.”
- ZF: “I liked drawing and colouring in.”
- NG: “I liked drawing my happy face.”
- HH: “I liked playing in the gym hall at PE.”
- AK: “I liked learning the numbers.”
- HM: “I liked going for a walk in the playground.”
- NP: “I liked designing my person.”
- LP: “I liked playing with the Lego.”
- ASC: “I liked learning about tens and ones.”
- AS: “I liked playing eleven in Maths.”
- EF: “I liked drawing myself for our class charter.”
It has been lovely to hear about all the different things that have made the children happy and excited about their learning this week.
A Little Reminder
On Friday 11th September, a photographer from the Evening Times will be visiting us to take a Primary 1 class photograph.
We will let you know as soon as we find out when the photograph will feature in the newspaper.
Have a lovely weekend!
