Newton Farm Primary School and Nursery Class

Room 9 Opinions

This week we have been working hard on our writing. Mr Allen spoke about how important is to have our own opinions about things and that people have different opinions. We also discussed that you must always respect people’s opinions even though they might be different from our own. When we have an opinion, we must make sure that we can have a good reason to justify why we have that belief.

For the first task, Mr Allen got us to discuss with our partner about whether children should or should not have to do homework. We then repeated the task with whether children should or should not have longer break times. We then had to write our ideas on whiteboards. Mr Allen thought most children would not want to do homework but there was actually a 50/50 split in class. Some of the pupils in the class came up with very good reasons that caused some people to change their minds.

For our main task we had to write down our views on school uniform and also getting to sit next to our friends in class.

It was fun trying to persuade people in the class to change their views.
