The Power of Yet ✨

Following the winter break, Room 6 have been having lots of great discussions about things we can already do and things we would like to achieve this year. We read the book ‘Giraffe’s Can’t Dance’ and were able to clearly explain the message of the story; you can do anything if you just believe in yourself!  We then had a chat about growth mindset and how important it is to realise that you can do anything you put your mind to. We spoke about target setting and how you can have both long term and short term targets. Room 6 had a fantastic time using this learning to design their own ‘Can/Can’t Yet’ giraffes. On the body of our giraffe, we each had to write something that we could do and something that we couldn’t do yet but would work towards. We enjoyed sharing our ideas with our peers and building our unique giraffes. Look at our super display, we are very proud of it!

Last week we also had some opportunity for creative time. During this time, we came up with some great builds using our imagination and some Lego or blocks. We enjoyed sharing our builds with the class and are hoping to continue to develop them throughout this week to make them even better!

Here are some comments from last week’s learning:

IW – I really liked when we made the giraffes.
OM, LT, HG – I really liked doing our maths today, it was really fun.
SJ – I liked doing French with Franc.
RF – I liked doing the walk to school survey.
QJO – I liked making the healthy plates.
HH – I 100% liked doing the healthy plates.
Have a lovely week everybody and stay safe in this weather! ⛈️
