Room 13

Hello!

Last week in Room 13 we began our mini topic on Robert Burns. We have created some art based on “An Address to the Toothache” where we drew something your mouth would see at the dentist. Most of us went down the Demon Dentist route. We have also

started learning some Scots words for body parts. We will be starting our new topic on the Waverley paddle steamer at the end of January.

For numeracy, we have been working on the 2 times table and addition using the written method using 2-digit numbers or more. I could clearly see evidence that some of the adults had been helping their children with their numeracy homework this week and I wanted to say thank you for that. This term our aim is to work on more times tables, written method subtraction and multiplication, time and money.

We are going to be writing using persuasive language this term. We started this week by writing some pros and cons of the four seasons and we will work towards writing a persuasive text on which season is the best and why. Later, we will write a persuasive letter to Mrs Meechan. We have also started work on nouns for Grammar.

In Science, we are finishing our diseases topic from last term. Last week looked at our bodies and how they help fight back against diseases and made some fact posters about the immune system. Our next Science topic will be on the senses.

Kind Regards,

Mr Dalling.
