All Moonbeams chose what their imaginary friend was…..what their name. How old….. The favourite thing to do….what the colour of their hair and eyes. What their favourite colour for clothes would be and their favourite game to play. We all had made great pictures following our own choices in the drawing of our imaginary friend.

Chinese Banquet
We ended our week by having a Chinese banquet. We tried a selection of Chinese food and even tried using chopsticks! We shared our banquet with Mr Campbell.
Each of us had our very own fortune cookie, lets hope they all come true.
FAOL Sciences- Weather Changes
We have been responsible citizens and observed Scottish weather and have enjoyed acting as weather reporter each morning to share what the weather is like each day.
We created our own weather symbols, then used the SmartBoard to report the weather to our classmates.
Transition boys shopping trip
On Thursday the Transition Boys were given a photograph of a shop front and a shopping list. Their task was to find the correct shop in the Burn’s Mall and then to find their own items from the list and buy it with the correct money. Some of the boys went by bus and the others walked into town. They all showed that they were Responsible Citizens and Confident Individuals
FAOL – whole school events
The Sungazers were ‘Responsible Citizens’ as they participated in a Chinese New Year sensory assembly. They explored a variety of activities and developed an understanding of different holidays and festivals.
Newhouse Café visit
The Café enterprise group hosted a Chinese New Year themed café for some of the residents of Newhouse Care home this week. The pupils were extremely responsible citizens as they carried out their jobs as independently as possible and proudly represented their school. We used excellent manners and communication skills.
Is this my Stop?
In Numeracy the Transition class learnt and identified different times to catch a bus. The boys were Successful Learners and were able to decipher the bus timetable not forgetting about the return journey.
Life skills in the Beech class
The Beech class enjoyed making Chinese New Year themed cakes for our Café guests on Friday. We were effective contributors as we took turns and waited patiently for our cakes to cook.
The girls focused on some life skill ILP targets by learning how to load and use the dishwasher properly. They were very confident individuals.
Chinese New Year
The Transition boys were Effective Contributors and Confident Individuals when they made a Chinese envelope by folding and stick and putting chocolate coins inside.
Makaton literacy groups
This week in our Makaton group were successful learners learning the signs for the animals in the Chinese New Year calendar. We were finding out what animal we were and confidently signing them too. We also did some colouring of the different animals.
