Science Week Wonders…

The Beech class have thoroughly enjoyed Science Week.  We started off with a Science themed day where we visited lots of different rooms in the school where fun science experiments were set up.  We were effective contributors as we took turns and waited made our predictions.

The rest of the week we focused on learning about our senses.  We completed an experiment based on each sense.

  Exploring our sense of smell and taste…

Discovering how sound waves travel…

Colour changing flowers experiment…

 We made music using cups filled with different volumes of water, we used glow sticks to make it more visual!

MOVE Group

We love coming together each week as a MOVE group and being confident individuals whilst taking part in a variety of lessons.  This week we tried some science experiments (that had already been tested and knew they would be successful).

We were also lucky this week to have a session with Kelly and Cooper for some dog therapy.

After this we returned to class and played some music along to ‘I Love My Life’.

We took part in all these activities whilst working on a lot of our MOVE skills and the main part was we had fun doing it.

Science Week

It has been Science week in school, we tried and tested a variety of experiments this week.  Some successful and some unsuccessful, we predicted at the start of the week that we wouldn’t have any successes so we are happy with our results.

The boys were successful learners when listening to instructions and following the powerpoint to create their experiments.

Experiments we completed;

Cotton Ball Launcher = Unsuccessful

Captauplt = Successful

Leak Proof Bag = Successful (if completed slowly!, also if you do not unseal the bag!) so there was a swimming pool in class too.

Inflating / Deflating Balloon = Unsuccessful

Red Nose is this week, so the Oak boys made red nose cupcakes, everyone was effective contributors.

Cameron loves ‘Deal or No Deal’ so we have made a box and this will be used next week during our numeracy, coin work.

Science fun at cookery

The stars class took science into the kitchen this week and made our own paint to use on bread . We were all confident individuals at identifying colours with food colouring and mixed it with milk to make our ‘paint’ .We then used paintbrushes to make a pattern on our bread before putting it in the toaster . We were all surprised at how bright the colours were and that it tasted just like toast.. super successful learners.

STEM Shapes at Streaming!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Middle Primary enjoyed some STEM shape work during our numeracy streaming today. We used play doh and cotton buds and attempted to make some 2D or 3D shapes. We found this really tricky but tried really hard and by working together, we had some success!
