We haven’t just celebrated books on one day but all week. We all really enjoy experiencing and reading the “That’s not my ….” books, so on Monday we collected all the books we had along with different materials and read them together. We touched the different materials then used to create capes and headbands.

On Wednesday we had lots of fun participating in activities around “Goldilocks and the three bears”. We had a large tuff tray full on oats and were confident individuals exploring the oats finding the images underneath and scooping it up into the different bowls. We played with bears deciding who was mummy bear, daddy bear and baby bear. We watched the story on the board and enjoyed playing with the puppets alongside.

Today is the big day World Book Day. Today we are focussing on the book Snow White and seven dwarfs. Miss Hill even dressed up as Snow White. During our morning group we read parts of the story. For cookery we made rice krispie treats made the read and moulded them to look like apples. We decorated out own mirror design and added tin foil to the middle so well all have our own magic mirror and explored the Snow White inspired tuff tray in the afternoon.

We all had great fun celebrating World Book Day, we brought in our favourite stories from home to share with our friends. We also read the ‘Wizard of Oz’ together and we were all effective contributors to the story. We had our role play masks and had to act out our part of the story whilst it was being told.
We then took part in some activities related to our story, we were blindfolded and had to try give the Tin man a heart. We used our super soakers to get the Wicked Witch of the West, she doesn’t like water! We also had to help feed our dog Toto as he was so hungry after his adventure.
After this we took in turns to share our favourite books with our friends in class. To conclude the day, Aladdin found his beautiful princess, Jasmine and they all lived happily ever after.

The Bluebells class had a great time today on a bear hunt. We had a picnic in the Dean Park before going a long walk searching for a bear. We used our binoculars and found some tracks and had great fun searching and listening for the bear. A few times, we were sure that we had heard some rustling in the trees and got a bit of a fright when Mrs Vernon jumped out at us!

This week we enjoyed out social outing. We all climbed on the school bus, made sure we were safe by putting on our seatbelts and set off to see the animals at Pets at Home. We have been reading and doing activities related to our LGBT book “The Family Book” which explains how al families are different. It shows different animals and different pets. So we thought we would go and see all the different pets you can buy at the pet shop. Everyone really enjoyed this. We explored the shopping looking at the furry animals first which were cute. We even got to see two dogs having a haircut. Everyone then really loved watching the fish.
After exploring the pet shop we went to Burger King to have fun in the soft play and have our snack. Everyone enjoyed a little bit of something and then it was back on the bus and back to school.

The Makaton literacy group this week were experiencing vegetable signs and symbols. We looked at the symbols and tried to copy the signs. We then had fun printing and painting with the vegetables. They were all confident individuals rolling and moulding the playdough do make different vegetables and add details to the different pies.

The Transition class all showed great interest in this week’s art lesson… expressive art!
Working together from one large sheet of paper, the pupils were given the freedom to create their own marks and drawings, using varied resources:
Once the paper dried, the designs were used to make these lovely personalised cards. Absolutely fabulous work boys!

Successful Learners & Confident Individuals.
In order to recognise World Book Day on 5th March 2020, the pupils in the Bluebells class demonstrated excellent understanding whilst creating paper weave bookmarks.
These are created by using four strips or paper and glue.
All of the children actively participated and through curiosity and imagination this design problem was solved.
Keep up the hard work everyone!

On Friday afternoon we were all effective contributors and took part in LBGT Activities. Each Class planned an activity and then we all got a turn to carry it out – there was jigsaw hunting, purple sensory activities, painting a rainbow canvas, making purple hand prints and testing the pH of different liquids.
Our Class Activity involved lots of different colourful fruits – they were set out like a rainbow and you had to choose pieces and make a funny face on a paper plate and then taste them.
Photos to follow.

The Snowdrops listened to a story about Freddie and Flora and their quest for fairness. We all explored baskets of shopping and had to find the Fairtrade mark. The Snowdrops worked together sorting out the different foods. We had lots of Fairtrade bananas and enjoyed tasting them!
