Swimming lessons at the Galleon were cancelled this week because of the snow. This gave the Transition boys a chance to be Successful Learners when reading snow poetry in class and answering questions at the end.

The Stars Class brought the outside in this week. we built a snowman in a tote tray and watched him gradually melt and change into water as the day progressed.
All the boys in Transition were Successful Learners at learning Makaton to “Sair Finger”. They all participated really well and really enjoyed the poem having a good laugh at Mr Nicolls’ sair finger.
We had lots of fun exploring the sensory room this week. We especially liked looking at ourselves in the Magic Mirror.
Transition boys were Responsible Citizens when they went out in the community to visit a café and then returned back to school on a public bus. They put their passes on the machine successfully and collected their ticket.
The Stars class made bird feeders to feed to hungry birds in our sensory garden during the cold weather. We mixed together lard and bird seed then filled yogurt pots we’d saved from snack time. The pots were tied up high around the garden for the birds to access.
This week the Stars class have, amongst other things, explored big and small, started music therapy sessions and made star shaped shortbread at HE. A busy start to 2019.
The Transition boys had a busy start to the new term. This week they were Successful Learners when they were checking totals of coins in different purses. They then had the challenge of putting them in order from most money to least money.
The Stars class rehearsed hard for the school show. We looked at, listened to and practised singing and signing to the songs, ‘When Santa Got Stuck up the Chimney’, ‘Frosty the Snowman’, ‘Silent Night’ and finally ‘Reach For the Stars’. Alongside the Moonbeams and Sungazers classes we dressed up in character and held props to perform.
The Stars Class touched a selection of warm and cold items, showing their preferences. We also chose clothes for hot and cold weather whilst talking about winter and summer.
