Pupil’s brought in chocolate recipes for homework. We chose photographs for recipe cards and laminated them to stop them getting splashed in the kitchen. Some recipes were tried and tested at HE.
In their Health and Wellbeing lesson this week, the Transition boys looked at emotions and the effect of puberty. They had good fun playing a game which explored all emotions. The boys were Successful Learners and liked sharing their answers with their group.
The Transition boys are Successful Learners every day when they take part in their ten minute challenges. The challenges change but are linked to literacy and numeracy targets. The boys were working on 24hr clocks, choosing words, money, sequencing, months and seasons and reading this week.

Some of the boys in the Sungazers class will soon be big brothers! We have been doing a mini-topic about babies in the class which all of the boys have really enjoyed. They have been really good at holding their baby dolls correctly, taking them for walks and identifying all the equipement needed to look after a baby.
Yesterday we had a visit from Mrs Skinner’s newborn niece, Chloe. All of the boys were delighted to meet her and were so kind and gentle.
This week we have been successful learners and working hard on developing our numeracy skills.
We used the fitness balls to help understanding of directional movement, forward and backwards. We also all sat in a circle with the balls and used the drumsticks. We were counting and listening to directional movement, working on right and left.
We were taking part in coin work, before we went on our first class outing into town.
We have been exploring different classroom settings from around the world. It was interesting to find out that not all children learn from within a classroom in a school building. Some are taught from inside tents, some outdoors and some from underneath trees which are used for shade. We had good fun completing activities in different learning environments this week.

Every Friday the Sungazers have been successfully making a healthy breakfast and taking it in turns to serve it to their friends. We have also prepared breakfast snacks are served them to our peers in other classes as well. We have all enjoyed making, serving and tasting a variety of different healthy breakfast ideas. Our favourite ones were toast and bagels.
The Transition boys were Successful Learners when they went to the Kay park. They investigated Autumn colours and collected a wide range of leaves. They also found conkers, sticks, sycamore seeds and ivy. They used all their autumn treasure to make art displays back in the classroom.
The Stars class made ice cream by shaking a zipped bag of milk, sugar and cocoa powder within a zipped bag of ice and salt. We were amazed how quickly ice cream formed. It tasted delicious.
