National Digital Technology Week

National Digital Technology Week, we have been enjoying taking part in the literacy and numeracy tasks this week on the iPad.

We were successful learners when we were taking part in a group challenge during our time work.  We were experiencing how long one minute felt and who could pop the most balloons in a minute.  Nathan was the champion! There was a lot of concentration from all the boys during this challenge.

We had a fun party for one of our class friends to wish him good luck!

We all enjoy coming together and having a laugh.

National Numeracy Day

Today is National Numeracy Day so instead of doing literacy steaming this afternoon we did numeracy tasks with our groups. We were successful learners and effective contributors throughout the afternoon. We signed the numbers to ten. We all tried really hard despite the hand shapes being rather tricky. We then completed numeracy rotations we had to find numbers on the tuft tray and used a paintbrush to make them disappear. We had to count the number of flowers and then had to build a tower with the same number of blocks.

Easter Fun

Despite it being a short week, we still managed to get a lot of work done in the Oak class.  A lot of work this week has had a literacy focus,  fine motor skills,  listening, observing, and comprehension of instructions.

It has been a busy but fun week with all the boys being successful learners and confident individuals in all the tasks we completed.

Sean had a great session on the trampoline during his rebound session, he was very relaxed and cooperative.  He signed for ‘more’ several times when he and had great eye contact during his cool down session.

We decorated our eggs with some aboriginal art to go along with our Australian topic work.

We also made some Easter cookies, we were all effective contributors when we made and decorated them.  Some cookies never made it home, they went straight into tummies as soon as they were iced.

We made some Easter glasses and Nathan really enjoyed wearing his, he kept them on all day.

Easter Bingo and Blake was the winner ‘Full House’.  The boys were working on their listening and comprehension skills whilst  playing the game.

It was been a lovely week with lost of sunshine, the boys have enjoyed some time outside with their friends playing with the ball.

We made some colourful eggs, whilst working on our fine motor skills.  We did some weaving and tape to create two different style of eggs.

We met some lovely lambs two were only 1 day old and enjoyed a cuddle from some of our boys.  They were all very gentle and quiet when petting and cuddling the lambs. Lots of smiles all round.

Science Week

It has been Science week in school, we tried and tested a variety of experiments this week.  Some successful and some unsuccessful, we predicted at the start of the week that we wouldn’t have any successes so we are happy with our results.

The boys were successful learners when listening to instructions and following the powerpoint to create their experiments.

Experiments we completed;

Cotton Ball Launcher = Unsuccessful

Captauplt = Successful

Leak Proof Bag = Successful (if completed slowly!, also if you do not unseal the bag!) so there was a swimming pool in class too.

Inflating / Deflating Balloon = Unsuccessful

Red Nose is this week, so the Oak boys made red nose cupcakes, everyone was effective contributors.

Cameron loves ‘Deal or No Deal’ so we have made a box and this will be used next week during our numeracy, coin work.

World Book Day

World Book Day this week! The Oak boys were all confident individuals when choosing their reading book and reading it to an adult.  They completed a book review to share their opinion on their story.

Angus has been making great progress and coming to join his friends for quite a few activities this week.  He loves to sing ‘Shotgun’ and ‘Flower of Scotland’.

We also were successful learners working on telling the time in analogue and digital format.  The boys played a time game with a partner, ‘Roll and Tell the Time.’ The first person to complete a straight line had to shout ‘BINGO’.

Every class went to great efforts to dress up in their favourite character or come in their PJs for a bedtime story.

Our WINNERS for World Book Day!

This is the first time the whole Oak class have all sat together around the snack table! It has been a great week in the Oak class!

We read ‘The Lion Inside’ and then had fun creating a our Lion art work.
