Welcome Back Stars Class

Hi everyone. Mrs Gardner here. The ladies and I are all missing you. Hope you are enjoying the sunshine as we definitely are.                                                                      I have been tidying the garage, doing some gardening and have been doing facetime quizzes with my family which have been great fun.

Mrs Westerman has been tidying out her huge shed. She had so much rubbish she had to hire a skip! She has been enjoying walks with her dog, Storm, and took this photo of some sheep she saw the other day.

Mrs Logan has been busy with her children, Adam and Amy. They have been doing treasure hunts, baking and enjoying walks. They made a wee family rock garden with their names on. Mrs Logan has also been keeping fit with Joe Wicks and online Zumba classes.

Mrs Chisholm has been doing lots of activities with her children Evie and Owen. They have enjoyed going to the park, made lovely ‘Thank You’ rainbows for their window and had a yummy barbeque the other day.

Every Monday I will post an activity for you to do with your family, if you wish. It is not compulsory but might be fun to do. The theme this term is, ‘The Great Outdoors’ so I thought it would be nice to make ‘Natures Crowns’ or ‘Natures Wristbands’.

You can use twigs, flowers, leaves or clippings from bushes. The choice is yours! We’d love to see any photo’s or maybe you could leave a comment on the blog. Mrs Chisholm’s children made wonderful rainbow pictures to thank key workers and the NHS. Maybe you could make a thank you poster for your postman or dustbin men.

Have Fun. Stay Safe.

In the garden…….at last!

The Stars class have been confident individuals this week as we made lovely cards and gifts for Parent’s Day. Hope you like them! We enjoyed the dry weather by tidying our planter in the garden and planting bulbs. Much digging was done! We had good fun in the playground and playing balloon tennis.

50 Things – Bubbles

The Stars class enjoyed time in the sensory garden blowing bubbles. At times it was so windy the bubbles blew themselves! It was a good thing we were all wrapped up warmly. In the better weather we will return to the garden to blow bubbles using large rings and rope.

50 Things – Boat Trip and Burns Activities

The Stars class had fun creating paper boats and checking whether they would float or not. Thankfully they did! We will take our boating pond outside in the better weather. We enjoyed Burns activities this week making oatcakes and a Robert Burns silhouette picture. The Scottish songs were good too.

I Spy in the Sensory Garden!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Bluebells class worked in teams during a game of “I Spy”. We had to find a range of items on our list and take a photo of them on our iPad. We looked for bus stops, red cars, white vans, windmills, a tree and a bird.

50 Things to do in the Outdoors

The Transition boys were Successful Learners when they went to the Kay park. They investigated Autumn colours and collected a wide range of leaves. They also found conkers, sticks, sycamore seeds and ivy. They used all their autumn treasure to make art displays back in the classroom.

Stars Present Assembly

This week the Stars class presented assembly where we talked about being ‘included’ and included other classes by asking them to vote for their favourite song to dance to at the end. The Proclaimers, ‘500 Miles’, was the winning song. We also enjoyed a colour treasure hunt in the garden and had a wonderful sensory experience exploring chocolate ‘Angel Delight’.

Back at Willowbank

The Stars Class have been getting to know our new class these past two weeks. We have been playing ‘getting to know you’ games and have been enjoying time outside in the sunshine. We worked hard clearing the weeds that had grown over the summer in our planter. They were huge! After the weeds were removed we were able to find the potatoes, onions and peas that we had grown. We discussed our feelings and emotions then made playdoh faces. See if you can recognise our emotions – happy, sad, upset, angry, surprised, excited and sleepy.

The Transition boys enjoyed a lovely picnic and games day down at Underwood. They were Responsible Citizens when they were taking turns and waiting patiently. The boys made sure we left no rubbish and had a fantastic day.

A Walk in The Park

All the boys in Transition got a chance to go over to the Kay Park to do some work this week. They all had to do a small nature trail and choose things they spotted on the ground on the way to the park. They were all Responsible Citizens when walking to and from the park. Everyone got a shot of the swings as well to finish off a great afternoon.
