Bush Tucker Treasure Hunt

The Stars class invited the Sungazers class to a Bush Tucker Treasure Hunt in the sensory garden. We looked for fruit pictured in our worksheet and counted them. Afterwards we had a sociable snack together in the Stars class. Everybody seemed to have a good time.

FAOL – Sciences – Growing plants for the garden

The Stars class have planted vegetable plants in the school garden. We have planted peas, courgettes, pumpkins, carrots, onions and potatoes. We keep them well watered  and hope we will have a healthy crop of vegetables to harvest after the holidays.

Outdoor lifestyle

The Transition boys were Effective Contributors when they were out in the garden. They all made a journey story where they collected objects from the garden and stuck them to their story board. They also took picture of the area where they found their items which they added to their story. The boys also collected a stick from the garden where they learnt bush crafting skill and used a handcraft tool to whittle stick then colour it in.

The Transition boys were Effective Contributors when they were outside finding items matching the given letter.

Outdoor Number Bonds

The Transition boys took lessons outdoors again when they revisited number bonds. This time they were looking at the number groups that make up twelve. The boys found twelve large sticks and spend time dividing them up into two groups of different values. The boys were all Confident Individuals when they wrote their totals on the whiteboards.

Kay Park Nature Scavenger Hunt

During the lovely weather the Transition boys had a Nature Scavenger Hunt. They were all Effective Contributors as they hunted around for items and shared their answers in the group. The reward for such hard work was a quick shot on the swings before returning to school.

Planting in the Garden

The Stars class were busy this week planting potatoes and onions. We must keep them well watered to grow. This week’s outing group visited Pets at Home where we saw clown fish just like those that live on the Great Barrier Reef.

Counting is fun

The Transition boys numeracy lesson was outside this week where they had to find different ways to count to ten.   First they looked around the gardens and collected ten pinecones, they then split then into two groups so the total was ten. The boys discovered that there were many ways to make a total of ten. They showed that they where all  Confident Individuals and Successful Learners

Sunday Treats

The Stars Class have been making cards and treats for our special mums and dads this Sunday. Hope they like them! We have also started preparing our planter for sowing seeds.

Science Week

The Stars class had a great time during science week. Some ‘experiments’ worked better than others however we couldn’t wait to try out the next one! We definitely had fun learning experiences!
