We had a fantastic Superhero Day celebrating MOVE. We enjoyed superhero cupcakes and created masks. We played games using the Captain America shields we made yesterday and enjoyed a super villain game. We danced, did exercises and watched the MOVE video which showcased all the great MOVE activities we do at Willowbank. A very happy day.

Effective Contributors – Literacy
The Transition boys were Effective Contributors this week when they took part in a sensory story. They followed a story about a party and rolled out, chapatis, looked at patterned dresses, brushed hair and finally kept time with the party music.
The class were Effective Contributors when they played a team game of sand bowls. They worked in pairs to try and land nearest to the jack. I think the scores were even by the end of the rounds. We may have got a bit carried away and one ball escaped from the school grounds. Fortunately there was a pokey stick to hand and we got it back!

Enterprise – The Oak Tree Cafe
This week we enjoyed the opening of our Oak Tree Cafe (within class) as part of our class Enterprise. Everyone had to choose lollipop sticks to reveal their role within the cafe. We had some customers, front of house, waiter, dish washer and cashier.
We all were effective contributors to make the cafe successful, we will change the roles and continue to develop or independence within a cafe setting.

IDL Beauty & The Beast
Our IDL work this term is based on Beauty and the Beast. We have been working hard on identifying personality qualities in our self and our friends.
We have been discussing the important people in our life and who is around us that care and provide us with helps.
Everyone took part in lessons with confidence and were effective contributors sharing this information with their friends.
As a class we enjoy looking through our photos and remembering the activities that we have taken part in. We had great team work between two pupils, who worked together to sort all our class photos for the full class.
We cut out the pictures of the story and put them in order to re tell the story. Everyone’s story had a slight variation, but everyone’s made sense.

The Transition boys had a nautical look about them this week when they were practicing for their end of term group performance. They were all Effective Contributors and kept rhythm very well as well as signing along to our own lyrics.

We collected leaves and flowers from the garden and used them to paint dinosaur pictures. We were amazed what good paint brushes they made.
*Successful Learners *Effective Contributors
The Stars class made fabulous dinosaur fossils. We measured ingredients to make salt dough, divided the dough equally among us and imprinted with our favourite dinosaur shapes. After allowing the dough to dry we painted them. Don’t they look good?
