Scottish Theme!

The Beech class have had a very Scottish themed week as we begin preparations for our annual Burns Supper!

We started of the week learning some Scottish words, we had to listen carefully to the Scottish words and found the image to match the sound!

We then listened to some body parts spoen in Scottish slang and had to match them to the body of ‘Oor Wullie!’ Later on in the week we made our very own Scots Broth!  We were very responsible citizens making sure to be healthy and hygienic throughout the food preparation stage and then used different bits of equipment to peel and chop our vegetables.

Housework Helpers!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, CONFIDENT INDIVIDUALS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS, EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTORS *

The Bluebells class have been doing lots of activities related to our theme story ‘Thistle Street’. One of the characters in the story is Agnes Auld and she is a cleaner.

Today we had a roleplay session taking on the job of Agnes Auld. We tried hovering, mopping dusting with a feather duster and washing the dishes.

We all tolerated trying these jobs and then reflected on what was our favourite and what was our least favourite.

FAOL – Pine Line, Colour and Texture in Art.

The Pine Class tried out a different type of sensory art. Mrs Macdonald glued art straws to card and the pupils used foil paper to mould over the 3D lines.

The children ripped and scrunched the silver foil which was then glued to the card. Coloured paint was then added to the designs to create a stained glass window affect.

Excellent hard work by out successful learners.

Music in the classroom

Yesterday we sang some songs, and did the bean bag rock song. We had to place the bean bag on our head, elbow and toes.

We also investigated different musical instruments. We had to shake some instruments and hit others. It was great fun.
