Pancake Fun!

We celebrated shrove Tuesday this week by making our own pancakes!  We enjoyed learning about the ingredients, making a shopping list and sequencing the recipe card the day before.  On the Tuesday we had fun mixing all the ingredients and following the recipe card.  We then practised our money handling skills and communication by ordering our toppings and paying for them using a price list!  We were successful learners and effective contributors throughout the morning.

Active Numeracy

The Beech class worked hard today during our active numeracy session.  We are experiencing the different number processes and today we focused on subtraction.  We learned by playing different games.  we played Skittles, Lego towers, switch-it and dice games and focused on our counting skills and the different mathematical words we use like; “how many more/left”.  We were very successful learners.

Responsible Citizen – Effective Contributors – Successful Learners

The Snowdrops have enjoyed exploring our story Giraffes can’t dance.  We have explored ways we are all good at different things and had fun trying some animal yoga positions!  The Snowdrops have also been creative using different colours and textures to make an LGBT flag and heart-shaped rainbow, thinking about being kind.

Knitting like Raffi

Round two of knitting for the Oak room, we failed our first attempted so we gave a new technique a try.  We were much more successful! We all worked together, we were effective contributors and managed to make three bracelets.

Our LGBT story is about Raffi, who likes to knit. He worries about liking things that others do  not.  He is worried that people will make fun of him because he likes different things and not the same as everyone else.

Raffi learns that his he has a talent of knitting and this can be used to help others and make people happy.

In the Oak class we have been learning about what makes us different from everyone else and that we are amazing just the way we are. All our hard work will be shared in our class assembly tomorrow to celebrate LGBT.

Hearts

One of the activities we carried out this week for our LGBT Theme was making colourful hanging hearts.

We confidently used them for lots of different learning activities. Counted them and  made sure everyone had all 6 colours, we signed all of the colours, we arranged the hearts into the correct size orders and then we strung them all together – don’t they look pretty

LGBT Art

*Successful Learners*   *Confident Individuals*

The Moonbeams have continued their learning this week through their LGBT Theme. The children were painting and decorating the flag which represents diversity in preparation for their Assembly next week. The class also listened to songs about being different and chose their favourite song to practice and present at Assembly.

This week the Moonbeams made waffles during cookery. They concentrated while pouring and mixing the ingredients together. Some of the pupils chopped up strawberries and used the microwave to make toppings. The waffles were enjoyed by all!
