Global Goal 4 – Quality Education   Effective Contributors/Successful Learners

The Snowdrops have showed lots of interest in pictures of different school activities and using happy/sad signifiers to say if they liked them.  Everyone responded to a short video clip where Thomas the Tank explained what our Global Goals are in school.  We also participated actively in gluing and sticking pictures of different activities, sorting them into our likes and dislikes.  Great work, Snowdrops!

FAOL – ECO – Global Goal 11 – Meet and welcome people

The Stars class made place mats and iced biscuits for our Macmillan snack. We enjoyed a sociable gathering together where some of us chose to have strawberry milk shake too. We also decorated a yummy Colin the caterpillar cake. We thought it looked great next to the Colin the caterpillar we’d grown with grass seed!

MacMillan Coffee Morning

The Snowdrops had fun this morning decorating biscuits and cake. We used lots of icing, sweets and jam to create our own faces on biscuits and then we drizzled lots of icing over a swiss roll to make our own version of Colin the Caterpillar! Have a look at our photos!

Macmillan – effective contributors

Today was our whole school Macmillan day. We decorated bunting to put up in the classroom and we also made a face for our gingerbread man.  All the children were confident in placing their eyes, nose and mouth on the biscuits. We also all helped to chose the sweeties to decorate our giant caterpillar.

Successful learners during literacy

The Bluebells have been very busy this week and last. Last we we recapped the sounds “s”, “a” and “t”. We made lovely starfish with bubble wrap that we painted and then dabbed on the paper to create the circle effect like the a starfish.

We made lovely turtles using lots of different shades and textures of green. We stuck the squares to a paper plate and added a head, legs and a little tail. The children were all very proud of the finished results which we will display in class.

MacMillan Coffee Morning

The Daisies have been very busy today taking part in different activities to participate in Willowbank’s MacMillan coffee morning,

We were confident individuals and made choices to add toppings to a biscuit to make a face for the gingerbread man. We also worked hard to design our own caterpillar cake.

We were responsible citizens, making sure we shared each of the decorations with all of our classmates.

Confident Individuals    Effective Contributors

The Moonbeams have been busy decorating cakes and biscuits this week to help raise awareness for MacMillan Cancer Support. The pupils were demonstrating their pouring and spreading skills when decorating and best of all they got to eat them afterwards. Take a look at how creative their cake decorations are!

The Flamingo that came for Coffee!

This week we have continued with our story ‘The Flamingo that didn’t want to be Pink’ and made some lovely Flamingos – we were successful learners and made choices and decided what we want our Flamingos to look like. Selecting different paper, feathers, pom-poms and glitter! Aren’t they lovely?

And we also got to read the story outside in the sunshine.

Numeracy has been fun! We have counted different animals and learned their Makaton sign, even the sign for Starfish (actually we had to ask Mr Campbell that one!) sorted and explored different colours and enjoyed playing dominoes.

We are confident individuals while participating in our physical exercise and    MOVE, and carried out our hard work!

In the Pine Room we are always very happy to hear each others news during morning Group, and we like making choices and pressing the feeling sound bar to express how we feel each morning.

In Science, we are still looking after the Bees and have made a couple of ‘Bee Houses’ – counting the canes and fitting them into the tin. They are now hanging up in a tree that we can see from our class room – hopefully a family of friendly bees might move in!

Social Sciences we are continuing looking after the birds and we made some  birds feeders out of apples! Getting all we needed ready, cutting the string and the apples in half, mixing the bird seed and the lard and pressing into the apples.

Our Responsible Citizen was given a special lanyard by Boyle, as she has been looking after and helping everyone in the Pine Room and carrying her allocated jobs.

Today is the MacMillan Coffee, in class we liked making Colin the Caterpillar. We enjoyed our Class Social Snack – although none of us had coffee!!! We hope you like our MacMillan Cups –  we all made a choice of what treat  to put in it!!

Have a great weekend.

Macmillan Fun!

Beech class here!  We would like to share with you some of the fun we had this morning at our Macmillan class event!  We all made our own snacks this morning and some of them were themed to match our ‘Under the Sea’ topic!  We made a biscuit face for a gingerbread man template, a Colin Caterpillar (Beech style) and then we each made an octopus from a marshmallow and a beach scene from a cracker and blue frosting.  We had a lovely time and were glad to be supporting such an important cause.  We were very responsible citizens as we watched some clips about what cancer is and how Macmillan helps to support different families affected by cancer.
