Christmas Jumpers !

As Thursday is our Christmas Lunch & Fayre day, pupils are invited to wear a festive jumper, festive top or accessory to school – please do not feel you need to go to any expense – why not decorate a top with festive decorations from home ?

Cash for Kids

Following a clear and confident presentation by Katy, Chloe, Zara and Keira at assembly on Monday, the whole school voted and decided overwhelmingly to support Cash for Kids this year as our Christmas charity.

The Primary 7 girls explained their suggestion in relation to sending a class Christmas card and making a donation to our chosen charity.

If you and your children wish to support our Christmas charity, donations will be accepted from Monday 3rd December until Wednesday 19th December.  Our P7 group will share the total raised at our Christmas Service on Thursday 20th December.

Nativity Performances

Primary 1 & 2  will be performing in our nativity, A Miracle in Town.

Due to the large number of P1 pupils this year, P1B ( Mrs Bloomfield ) & P1C ( Mrs Campbell ) will perform on Wednesday 12th December at 6.30pm.

P1D ( Miss McColl ) & P1A ( Mrs Smith ) will perform on Thursday 13th at 6.30pm.

All Primary 2s will participate in both performances.

Look out for letters in bags this week , with ticket details.

Children in our ECC will perform The Sleepy Shepherd on Friday 14th December at 10.00am and 2.15pm.

This year, there will be no charge for tickets for  either of our nativities.

We will be collecting donations at each performance for the East Ayrshire Foodbank in order to support families in our area and provide them with festive food and treats to enjoy at Christmas.

Final vision and values question

Developing Our Vision and Values – Part 3

Thank you to everyone who responded to our question last week.  These questions have been influenced by the work of T.J. Sergiovanni (Building Community in Schools).

The final ‘big’ question as part of this consultation process is:

If you could give your child a gift, one that could not be purchased or wrapped, but a gift that could ensure that he or she would develop along the lines of our deepest hopes and aspirations, what would that gift be?

Please take some time this week to consider this question and jot down your ideas in the comments box.  Remember there are no right or wrong answers and your answer may be similar to some of the information you provided to previous questions.

We will collate this information next week, week beginning  19th November. Please give us your responses as soon as possible for them to be included as part of our consultation.

Thank you for taking the time to consider these questions.  Your views are important to us and we look forward to receiving your responses.

Parent Focus Group

As you are aware, we will be welcoming colleagues from East Ayrshire Council into our school next week as part of our local authority Learning Visit.  The team will observe learning experiences in our ECC and throughout the school and will meet with a variety of focus groups during their visit.

They would like the opportunity to meet with a parent focus group on Monday 19th November at 2.30pm.  Please register your interest below if you wish to be part of this group.

Only those parents that are interested in taking part should complete the contact form.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Developing Our Vision and Values – Part 2

Developing Our Vision and Values – Part 2

Thank you to everyone who responded to our first question last week.  Throughout your responses, there were common threads and key themes, some of which related to attainment and achievement but many of which related to the development of core values.

The next ‘big’ question as part of this process is:

What do you want your children to carry away with them as they leave us in Primary 7, something which may stay with them for the rest of their lives, as a result of the systematic attention we all paid to it at Gargieston PS and ECC?

Please take some time this week to consider this question and jot down your ideas in the comments box.  Remember there are no right or wrong answers and your answer may be similar to some of the information you provided last week.  We will collate this information on Friday 9th November.

Your views are important to us and we look forward to receiving your responses.
