A number of children continue to show an interest in fire fighter role-play. They worked together to create their own fire engine.

Carving, investigating, discussing and decorating pumpkins.

A group of children took turns to play a Halloween matching game on the interactive whiteboard.

In the garden, a group of children collected together their own ingredients and  mixed them to create a witches potion.

Some children have been developing their fine motor skills placing pegs in boards.

On rainy days, a group of children have shown interest in investigating the large puddle in the garden. Some children have also  collected water and used it to create their own puddles.      

Another group of children continue to show interest in playing the floor is lava. They used loose parts to create places for them to jump between to keep them safe from the lava.

All of the children have been reading The Rainbow Fish story in their groups learning more about sharing. In the story the Rainbow Fish is on his own as he does not want to share with others. After being given some advice he decides to share his colourful scales and other fish ask him to play with them. Each week the children learn about a new word from the story. They have learned about the words proud and silent.

In group time, some of the children have been singing counting rhymes and playing games about shapes. 

In the garden a couple of children found a tiny red spider.  Ayva wanted to find other colours of spiders. A few children then went on to the computer to find out what other colours of spiders you can get.

A number of the children have shown real interest in firefighter role play. They have been using different pipes and water within their play.

They continued the idea of fire and fire fighters using sticks to create their own campfire.

A few children explored different ways of making the balls travel using guttering and pipes.

Others have been challenging themselves through climbing and jumping.

A couple of children have shown interest in exploring animal stories looking at the pictures and starting to identify what they can see.

Inside, some of the children have been measuring and mixing together their own paint.

3-5s

A few of the children in the 3-5s have also shown interest in firefighter role-play. They have used the tunnel, pipes and water within their play re-enacting what firefighters do.

A couple of children have been transporting water and creating their own puddles.

A group of children also continue to search the garden digging for mini beasts. They have been looking at books to find out more about the features of some mini beasts and what they like to eat learning new facts.

Some children have been using the ladders to climb adjusting the angle of the ladder to further challenge themselves.

Kayden and Lyall have been exploring different ways to make water travel. Today they were blowing the water to create their own bubbles.

A number of children in different playrooms have expressed great interest in playing the floor is lava. This has developed into an interest in volcanoes in one playroom.

Sophie continues to revisit potion making finding and selecting her own ingredients.

Henry and Harley worked together to line up the cars. Harley counted how many they had touching each car as she counted.

In the art studio, a few children have been exploring paint and using leaves to create pieces of art.

A couple of children worked together using different sized construction blocks balancing them to create towers.

Some of the children have been developing their fine motor skills by threading different objects onto pipe cleaners.

Others have been mixing water with the paint blocks to create paint. They have used the paint to create pieces of art.

A few children made and explored gloop engaging in sensory play.

3-5s

A number of children have been looking at the balance book trying out different balancing activities in the nursery and the garden.

Others have been developing their fine motor skills and problem solving skills piecing together puzzles.

A few children have been practising sequencing numbers from 1-10 playing caterpillar count on the interactive whiteboard.

Joshua played another bug game sequencing numbers to 10 and beyond.

Riley used the Paint programme on the Interactive board to draw pictures.

Deryn, Riley and Dannika were exploring the balance scales putting different objects in each side and observing what happened. They identified which items were the heaviest by observing what happened to the scales.

A few children played the Jack and the beanstalk game together. They took turns to identify and match shapes then helped to build the beanstalk.

Oliver spent time building his own train track. He selected the pieces and problem solved to get pieces to fit. When he was finished he took a photograph of his track.

Malcolm spent time in the garden one rainy afternoon. He showed great interest in investigating the large puddle in the mud kitchen.

In the other garden, they transported water to create their own puddle.

Towards the end of last week we got a new gazebo for one of the 3-5 nursery gardens. A few children were keen to watch the men as they built up the gazebo.

A few children have enjoyed playing in the gazebo adding materials to make it more enclosed and engaging in role-play.

In the other garden, Oscar used the blocks to design his house building the bricks one on top of the other.

Danny created an outer structure and problem solved to find the right sized bricks to fit inside to make  a garden.

A few children have been investigating loose parts and using their imagination to find different uses for resources.

Inside, others have been developing their fine motor skills showing an interest in threading and cutting.

Others have been developing their pincer grip through mark making in different ways.

After reading the 3 little pigs in group time, Shelley used the character props and the book to retell the story.

During group time, the children continue to participate in table top games developing their sharing, listening, memory and turn taking skills.

A few children have shown an interest in exploring apples after eating these for snack. They developed their cutting skills cutting open an apple and identified the different parts. They also looked at a book about apples.
