We worked together in teams to get the answers and follow the clues.

They had their snack and a wee play there before heading back to the school. They were very good at following road safety rules and kept us all in check! We raised £423.60. Achaleven’s Got Skills!
12th – 16th June was a very busy time at Achaleven Primary!
We packed in a lot in a short space of time starting with tag rugby with Allan and Ellie who put us through our paces, kept us active and we worked together well to achieve great results. We planned a trip to Glen Nant for the Wednesday so this involved creating a risk assessment.
Kirn Primary has had an amazingly active Health Week, with a huge range of fun activities to take part in. P7 children held a sponsored walk and the iCycle Programme has continued during this week.
The children at Drumlemble have been taking part in skipping lessons in the school as part of The British Heart Foundation – Healthy Heart program.
The children from, Primary 1 – 7, took part in a sponsored skipping event called Jump Off, on Friday 9th June, to raise money to help fund BHF research which will help to prevent, predict and try to cure heart disease. The charity relies on the generosity of sponsors to help them continue this life saving work.

The Topic in P3B this year has been to improve and care for our School Environment. We cleared out the raised beds, went to our local supermarket and selected suitable plants to brighten our School playground. We are going to have a lot of building work going on very soon and we thought the gardens would cheer people up in the midst of the major refurbishment. P3B enjoyed every minute of their gardening activities and met some snails, which they then wrote wonderful stories about. They then thought of very interesting ways to discourage them from our beautiful garden!
Dunoon Primary’s P6 pupils have been out on the road recently practising and completing their Cycling Proficiency. The pupils were put through the programme in the playground to start and once competent were taken out on the road by trainers Mrs S Derrett & Mrs M Peek assisted by volunteer Bunty. The weather was dry for most of the training and the pupils became more confident week after week. The training is now complete and the pupils are waiting for their badges and certificates to be handed out very soon! Well done and happy cycling P6!
A team of pupils from Dunoon Grammar School is calling for help from members of the public after being shortlisted for the People’s Choice Award at this year’s Apps for Good UK finals.
The youngsters beat of stiff competition from over 25,000 young people, from 1,250 establishments, to reach the final 10 with their innovative SafeStep idea. However, in order to win, the team needs members of the public to vote for them.
It’s all swings and roundabouts in Primary 6 at Rhu as pupils have been designing their own Healthy Living Theme Park.
The project has been a homework topic this term and children have taken the theme of a healthy, balanced lifestyle and turned it into a business venture. They have each designed their own theme park, with the emphasis on being active and eating healthy food. So gone are the burgers and coke to be replaced by smoothie bars and fruit snack shops.

Tayvallich Primary won the Mid Argyll Inter-schools Quiz Final last week at Kilmory Council Chambers.
The final was against the Kilmartin/Achahoish Primary Schools Team and both teams battled for the shield bravely.
Thank you to Mrs Dickie from Lochgilphead Primary for organising the event which involved all Mid Argyll Schools.
A few weeks ago, one of our older pupil’s had the fantastic idea of doing a sponsored walk to raise money for Learning Centre funds, particuarly to buy new outdoor equipment and toys. The LC2 class planned and organised the walk in consultation with the head teacher. We used Google maps to plan our route – it was 2.5 miles from the school to the Sandbank swing park which we thought was perfect. We wrote to parents, made posters which the younger children in LC1 helped to decorate, and carried out a risk assessment.

It was Achaleven Primary’s turn to organised Sports Day this year for their school along with Barcaldine, Kilchrenan, Lismore and Strath of Appin schools. Appin kindly offered their facilities for the day. As we are a collection of schools we decided on a collection of colours for our theme – a rainbow! The pupils from Achaleven designed all the games and an active warm-up to get everyone ready. Although there was a bit of rain it didn’t dampen spirits and lots of fun was had and friendships made. You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain!! Continue reading North Lorn Sports Day Fun – The Rainbow Games
Primary 6 pupils have been finding out what life was like in the Stone Age during a programme of outdoor learning in their local woodlands.
The class have been reading Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver, which is a novel set in the Mesolithic Period. To bring the story to life, they have been visiting Ardenconnel Woods to experience a Stone Age existence.
Kirn Primary’s P3/2 and Mrs Taylor were so pleased to welcome Walter Lee from the charity RNLI to our class as part of our seaside topic. Walter spoke about the work of the RNLI, and how their members are prepared to brave high winds and heavy seas 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to save people in trouble! What we didn’t know was that they don’t get any wages, they are volunteers so we decided to raise some money to help. We held a ‘design-your-own-welly’ competition which cost 50p to enter, and had a ‘Wear Your Wellies!’ day with a £1 donation if you did.
We raised £124!! Thank You to everyone who donated to this very worthy cause
