Dalintober was a hive of Hallowe’en activity this week, with parties for our ELC am group, ELC pm group, P1-2 pupils, P3-4 pupils and P5-7 pupils. Great fun was had, with great costumes from pupils – and staff!

Taynuilt Primary School among winning schools from across Scotland who prove they aren’t afraid of fighting against food waste. This Halloween Taynuilt Primary School were successful in a competition between Love Food Hate Waste Scottish Business in the Community and Good Family Food (Quality Meat Scotland) who teamed up to give schools across Scotland the chance to prove their mettle in a recipe competition called ‘Don’t be afraid of your leftovers.’
Easdale Primary School pupils enjoyed a fantastic Halloween lunch this week. The lunch hall was looking very spooky and pupils enjoyed a taste of pumpkin soup before tucking into tongue rolls (hot dogs!) and fruity fingers! All pupils then took a turn and performed a joke, rhyme or song. A huge thank you to Mrs MacKechnie and Mrs MacLarty for their hard work and effort in making the lunch so tasty and enjoyable. 
Pupils in Primary 5 – Primary 7 were lucky enough to have class visits from representatives of Scottish Water. They provided a range of different activities for the pupils to try, including games and experiments. They were also able to provide very important information on a range of water related topics including –
Children at Castlehill Primary School enjoyed an ear-splitting fitness routine ‘Pounding’ from fitness trainer Fiona Irwin. These energetic sessions were completed to a loud soundtrack using ‘Pounding’ drumsticks and all the classes enjoyed using the drumsticks to the rhythm of the music.

On the afternoon of 23 October we celebrated the success of one of our pupils, Chloe Taylor (P6), in a national competition. The competition, to design a Christmas card, was run by CrossReach, part of the Church of Scotland’s social care network.
On a blustery day in the middle of September, Primary 4 – 7 from Drumlemble Primary School headed down to Machrihanish beach, accompanied by Andrea McShannon from the GRAB trust, for a beach clean as part of the Beaches and Marine Litter project.
Two P7 pupils from St. Joseph’s took part in the West Dunbartonshire Maths Challenge on the Wednesday of Maths Week Scotland. Ten teams of eight children went head to head to solve Mathematics problems within a limited time frame. The last challenge of the morning was the ‘Hot Seat’ where one child from each team was the ‘runner’, responsible for running to an adult with the answer to their current question and collecting the next question until they had successfully answered 30 questions.

Primary 1 and 2 parents, carers and grandparents have been joining us every Thursday morning for Stay, Play and Learn sessions. During Maths Week Scotland we shared our maths learning with our families and introduced them to some of our Home Link activities which the children chose during the session. Our visitors were welcome to have teas and coffee in a relaxed atmosphere and find out more about our learning in maths and numeracy. 
Port Charlotte Primary has been recognised with a prestigious national award for innovation and achievement in delivering physical education and extra-curricular sport. Our school has achieved the sportscotland Silver School Sport Award for our commitment to engaging all pupils in sporting activity. It’s great that we have been awarded the sportscotland Silver School Sport Award. Our staff work incredibly hard to deliver a range of physical education and well done to the children for their continued participation in physical activity and sport which are important factors in the school curriculum.
A mobile app created by young people from Dunoon Primary School was unveiled at a meeting of Argyll and Bute Council’s Community Services Committee on Thursday 13th September 2017.The app provides information about the Education Service Vision and Strategy, “Our Children Their Future”, and was presented to members by three of Dunoon Primary’s Digital Leaders: Barry Campbell, Cameron MacRaild and Laurie Thorup.
Carradale Primary School took part in an open day on Thursday 14th September, the purpose of the day was to showcase the schools resources and teaching methods. This was a chance for parents to visit the school and observe the classes in action.Parents were invited to visit both the primary school and Pre 5 unit and were able to engage in their child’s learning. 

Tarbert Academy S3 pupil, Cara MacTaggart, achieved success in the Inspire-Aspire competition organised by Character Scotland. A National Finalist, her inspirational piece has been published along with other winners’ work in the Inspiring Purpose 2017 Awards magazine. The aim of the programme is to give young people the opportunity to think about their values and character strengths whilst also reflecting on who or what inspires them and their aspirations and goals for their future.
