Music with Gordon this week: Primary

Hi everyone!

We’re all getting used to working in new ways away from our usual classrooms, but we can still have fun making music.

What to do this week

This week,  please join in with the activities below. The more who can join in, the more fun, too. Do the activities as many times as you like.

Activities (links below)

    1. Hello song
    2. Bounce and catch. You’ll need a ball for this.
    3. Tap and clap along to the music on the YouTube video. This week we have a Brazilian classic by Sergio Mendes feat. Black Eyed Peas – Mas Que Nada
    4. Play the video again, but this time play along with some instruments – if you don’t have any, see what you can find around you that can make a good sound.
    5. Time to get up and dance! Move around to HAPPY – Pharrell Williams (feat. Minions)
    6. And now, time to chill. He’res a piece of piano music by the French composer Erik Satie. You may want to play it more than once.
    7. Goodbye Song. Time to say goodbye! Thank you for your music. Hope you had some fun, see you all next time!

Wednesday 25th of March

Good morning Pink Class!

Let’s see what we could do today.

First of all let’s get singing with our families! Wakey, wakey!

Calendar

Let’s think about days of the week today. Can you teach someone in your family our days of the week song? Can you teach them our signs?

Movement –

Check out the movement section. There are some great activities posted here.

Lifeskills –

Use the Tablespoon Biscuit recipe from your home learning pack to make some yummy biscuits. After all of this movement you deserve a yummy treat!

Literacy –

Try one of the sound/literacy tasks from your pack.

Practise writing the letters of the alphabet (use different colours for each letter).

P.E.-

Check out the P.E. section for some ideas or play a game in your garden.

Story –

Today why don’t you develop your listening skills and tune in to David Walliams reading one of his stories. He reads a new story every day at 11am. Each story is around 15 to 20 minutes long.

Art –

Children are being asked to paint or draw a rainbow and put it in a window at the front of the house. During this time of social distancing, families can go for a walk and children can look for rainbows!

Science –

We have been looking at water in the Pink Class.

Let’s do a floating and sinking experiment.

Find 10 things around your house. Do you think they will float or sink when you put them into water? Guess then experiment. Were you right? Why/why not?

s0f Floating and sinking investigation.

HWB –

Look for healthy food choices in your fridge or cupboard.

Can you eat 4 healthy foods today? I’m going to try this too!

Today’s challenge –

Indoor scavenger hunt, Get someone to time you. Challenge someone in your family to do it faster!

Have fun today Pink Class!

Movement Wednesday

Good morning all,

I hope you enjoyed movement Tuesday and are ready for your next movement challenge today?

Once again do what you can. Its important that the children enjoy moving around to the best that they can, whether its whole body movements or parts of the body.

Today’s cards 5 min Move Workout Day 3

Enjoy Wednesday Movement Workout!

Alternative to Movement – Some New and Familiar Activities

Hi all,

I have added an alternative to Movement Activities for our children should you wish or prefer to use the below videos. All videos are from YouTube therefore you may be able to display them on your TV as opposed to smaller devices, should your home equipment allow this.

These short clips are representative of some of the short videos i used with our primary pupils last year. Many of our secondary pupils still really enjoy them and have been known to try to join in while they are passing Primary taking part in our PE hall. So please let them have a go and join in.

Please use them as you wish. You don’t need to do them all. This is just some alternative ideas which will provide some sense of recognition and familiarity to our children.

In particular some of these clips were used as opportunities to stretch and follow instructions for those children with particular movement limitations.

If i can help in any way in relation to PE, Movement and Outdoor Learning then please feel free to drop me an email.
