Group 5 Circle Time Wednesday 20th May
Hello everyone,
How are you today? Today I feel like Little Miss Brainy because I passed my online exam yesterday. I still have another one to do today though so I better get revising!
Remember to ask the other people in your house how they are feeling too.
Today is supposed to be warm and sunny so why not do your movement outside. Perhaps try spelling out some happy words like sunshine and summer using the exercise alphabet.
For life-skills, I think today should be about staying safe in the sun. If you are outside a lot today remember not to get too hot, to stay in the shade during the hottest part of the day and to wear sunscreen and a hat.
Your first lesson of the day is literacy so check out Laura’s Language posts for today’s work.
After that it is time for PE so find out what Pedro has organised for you in the PE section.
Take a break and then come back for story-time at 10.30. Today’s story is
Then check out Sign of the day with Lorna and Art with Steve.
Have a nice lunch (if you’re going outside remember to stay safe in the sun) and then it is time for Science with me so check out my Science posts.
Last lesson of the day is Health and Well-being so you may just want to chill in the garden or have a walk. Alternatively you could check out some of Tracey’s posts in the sensory section.
Have lovely days and remember to send some photos for the weekly round-up.

Group 5 Circle Time Tuesday 19th May
Hello everyone,
I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. How are you feeling today?
Today I am feeling like Mr Worry because I have an exam to do today and another one tomorrow so I am very nervous!
For movement today I am going to do some yoga to help me feel calm. Why don’t you try it too?
The weather has been quite windy recently. For life-skills today how about going out into the garden to check whether there is any tidying up to do. I need to pick the leaves off my lawn and pick up some pots that have blown over.
For ICT check out Steve and Kirsty’s posts and then dance along with Rachel.
Have a break and then check back at 10.30 for Story time. Today’s story is Charlie and Lola, This is actually my party. I love this book, it really makes me laugh. I hope you like it too.
Check out Sign of the Day with Lorna and then it is time for Fiddly Fingers. For Fiddly Fingers do you think you could have a go at making your own clock face? Ask a grown-up to help you and then you can practise telling the time. You could make one that looks like this
or follow the instructions on this website
https://meaningfulmama.com/226-diy-clock-for-teaching-time.html
Have a lunch and then come back for Gardening / CDT with Scott. I am really looking forward to seeing what he has been up to recently.
Lastly it’s time for Health and Well-being. To help you relax at the end of the day why not do some colouring? You could colour an online picture like one of these from Disney
https://lol.disney.com/games/coloring-pages
or you could take your pencil ‘for a walk’ and then colour in the pattern. Watch this video to see what I mean.
I would love to see what patterns your pencil makes!
Have a great day.

The sun is shining, let’s get outside straight away! Let’s go on a Minibeast Hunt.
I have an ant hotel in Animal Crossing. Have you played Animal Crossing?
Time for some maths. Today we are looking at money. Sorting coins is a great money activity to to keep your kids entertained! It’s so simple and an easy early learning activity.
There are two ways to do this: no-prep and low-prep. Take your pick.
The no-prep way: Dump out all your change on the table and have kids sort it.
The low-prep way: On a large piece of paper draw circles and label them with coin values and names. Kids sort coins accordingly. (See photo above)
There are even various ways to sort coins!
- By coin value. Pennies, 5p, 10p etc.
- By coin size. Line them up according to size.
- By colour. Pennies in one pile, everything else in another.
- By picture. Show your child the way not all coins have the same picture on the front.
- By country. If you have foreign coins, add some into the mix!
- By the date. A really interesting way to sort coins!
Depending on how hands-on you want to be you can turn the coin sorting activity into a discussion about coin values. For example, show them how 5 pennies make a 5p. Ten pennies make a 10p. Two 5ps make a 10p and so on.
