I Hate Mondays Monday GIF by Chippy the Dog

Good morning everybody! Let’s start our day with Joe Wicks session –

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pe+with+joe

Here is the assembly link from last week in case anyone didn’t get a chance to watch it: https://youtu.be/Br7dtD7V31U

Here is a plan of the day which details the lessons we will be doing throughout the day and when I shall be checking in on Team.

Monday 18th January

There will be a live check in around 9:30 with Mrs Stewart and Mrs Hillan.

As discussed during our live session, here is the link to accessing Reading Books for this week : https://online.raintree.co.uk/login/index.html

I have put two books in each group’s booklist. I have put a guide on how to access these and how to use the online reading resource below:

Guide to using Raintree Reading Resource

Numeracy:

In Class Materials – Mrs Hillan Folder in files, there is a video recapping another part of our subtraction process. This is also the Youtube link: https://youtu.be/UV6Zlmjn-F8

Once you have watched this, try the Numeracy task below:

L/I To subtract one number from another with a zero involved.

S/C I can use my skills in subtraction to take one number away from another with and without borrowing with a zero involved.

Task: In Class Materials- Mrs Hillan in the files section you will find some subtraction sums, some with and some without borrowing (decomposition/regrouping). There is a ‘Mild’ task and ‘Spicy’ task and a ‘Hot’ task. It is up to you which one you choose, depending on how much you wish to challenge yourself. Remember, you can also do more than one if you wish. Please put your complete sheet or the sums on paper into your folder in the files section. The sheets are also added below:

MILD – Subtraction Mon 18th Jan final

SPICY – Subtraction Mon 18th Jan final

HOT – Subtraction Mon 18th Jan final

Reading _(Pre-recorded video of reading chapter – in ‘Class Materials – Mrs Hillan’ folder – in Files or use youtube link above)

Task:

L/I To extend my vocabulary

S/C I can find and discuss ambitious words in my novel to extend my vocabulary.

Task: Using the Word Wizard sheet as a guide which you will find in the ‘Class Materials – Mrs Hillan’ folder, find 3 words from the text which are unfamiliar to you – say what you think they might mean, look them up in a dictionary or Google and write down what they actually means, and then use them correctly in a sentence. Do this for each word separately. You can use the Word Wizard sheet in Files section to record on (write or type on) or you can note these down in your own notebooks etc then put a copy into your folder in the Files Section. Task is also below:

Reading – Word Wizard – Mon 18th Jan

Reading – Chapter 3 Mr Stink

We will catch up at 12:15 on Teams to see how we are all getting on.

1:30:

Good afternoon everyone, hope you all had a good lunch! I will post this afternoon’s activities below – Spelling and Health and Wellbeing. I will check in with you all around 2:15 on Teams.

Spelling

Your new spelling words for the week are in the ‘Class Materials – Mrs Hillan’ folder – remember to look at your group’s words! Once you have looked over your words and practised these using ‘Look, Cover, Write, Check’, write out your words in interesting sentences – try to make these exciting and entertaining!! There is a sheet you can record on in ‘Class Materials – Mrs Hillan’ folder or you can record on paper/jotter. Remember to put in your folder afterwards. Resources are also below:

Mon 18th – Spelling – Interesting Sentences

Mon 18th – Spelling words list

HWB

I had wanted to do this last week but didn’t get a chance – using the New Year’s Resolution sheets in the ‘Class Materials – Mrs Hillan’ folder, record something you would like to do/improve on linked to learning and one for at home. Remember you don’t have to record it on the actual sheet. Sheet is also below:

New Year’s Resolutions – Monday 18th Jan

Friday 15th January 2020

P6/5 Daily Plan

Fun Friday! Today will have a slightly different style as I want you to start working more independently. I will do a check from 9, but you then have to work on the below tasks independently and we will get back together for another check in at 12.

Please remember that “Teams” gets really busy during the day so you are better off accessing the resources you need from “Files” the night before. Please also do not click on “New Conversation” in “Posts”. Please also remember it is not the correct platform for chat. Please do not post Giffs or pictures of pets etc, and keep your posting and pinging to the minimum, for example use the thumbs up “Like” emoji rather than post “OK”. This will make it easier for you to find things and be less distracting. Another plea: make sure you read this document and the timetable as it has a lot of answers to the questions you are asking.

I will try to keep Teams as simple as possible for you all by only uploading what you need for each day into the “General” folder in “Files”. I have added some more activities for you to “Education City Homework”. There are loads of other really interesting activities in their as well. The other website I love is the BBC: check this out and show your parents / carers

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zvryp4j

Maths: Problem Solving: Money. Chili questions: you can choose how “spicy” (difficult) the questions are. Please choose carefully the pages most appropriate for yourself: as I have said I want you to work independently on these

TJay 2a page 69

TJay 1b page 75

TJay 1b page 75 (but not necessarily all of question 4)

The TJay Books can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Maths and Numeracy. I have also up-loaded the individual pages.

For those of you that want to really challenge yourselves try the “How do I plan a simple budget?” activity here:

Friday 15.1.21

Good morning, Mrs Lockhart here. Today’s tasks are outlined below.

Firstly, watch the powerpoint on Persuasive Writing, in the Folder named Friday 15.1.21, there are some good reminders and tips here.

au-l-53229-introduction-to-persuasive-text-powerpoint_ver_1 (1)

Then think about your arguments in favour of school uniform. Look at the persuasive planners provided in the same folder or below and choose one to support you. Persuasive Framework or Persuasive Framework 2. Finally write your persuasive piece in your jotter. Remember the long date and title. Upload your work, if possible, into your folder please.

Next there is an interesting poster competition for you to take part in.

‘Being Kind to yourself is one of the greatest kindnesses’

Think of how you could illustrate this idea and make it into a powerful poster. Upload your poster into individual folders please. Good luck!

Remember if you have any spare time to read for pleasure and just occasionally stop to practise your predicting skills.

12.00 Live check – in and Together Time.

That’s all for today. I’m looking forward to being in touch with you next week. Have a lovely week-end and take care everyone.

THURSDAY 14.1.21

Hello everyone, Mrs Lockhart here. Hope you are all well.

Please remember that “Teams” gets really busy during the day so you are better off accessing the resources you need from “Files” the night before. Please also do not click on “New Conversation” in “Posts”. Please also remember it is not the correct platform for chat. Please do not post Giffs or pictures of pets etc, and keep your posting and pinging to the minimum, and this will make it easier for you to find things and be less distracting.

Today you meet at 9.00 for a live check in with Mrs Dobbie, then with me at 11.00 and again after lunch at 1.30 for a live dictation lesson. Hopefully this gives you time and space to complete the tasks and then meet up to discuss how things are going.

Also I made a little mistake on Monday! There is no need to print any activity, the expectation is you copy the worksheet into your jotter. Hope that makes things easier for everyone. If you can, then photo the work and upload it to your folder or email it in and that would be perfect.

All your work for the day from me is in the Class Materials folder dated 14.1.21. We are covering RME /French with Mrs Dobbie, Maths Problem Solving, a dictation and a prediction task from a story.

I have written down times to try and help with organisation but feel free to move things around or do them later if that’s easier.

9.00 – Live check in with Mrs Dobbie and outline of activities

BREAK 10.30 – 10.45

11.00 – live check in with Mrs Lockhart and overview of the day

11.20 Maths Task – Time

Go to

https://corbettmathsprimary.com/2018/07/31/time-video/

Now complete the worksheet  Challenge Time 1 Show your working in the box.

LUNCH 12.30-1.15

1.30 Spelling Work live dictation

Take a new line in your jotter write the short date (14.1.21) and title – Dictation

Listen carefully and write your group’s dictation. We have done this many times in class so it should be straightforward.

2.00 Next task is to watch the story clip (only available in Team Files) and predict what happens at the end. Stop the clip when the wolf comes into the story and write your prediction down. Remember to give some evidence for your answer. Write your prediction and evidence in your jotter. I’m looking forward to reading your guesses. They don’t need to be correct but there does need to be some evidence to back them up. CHANGED clip difficult to access instead  watch the following clip and write two things you learned from the clip in your jotter.                                   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k09Q8A6Bxco

That’s all for today. I’m looking forward to being in touch with you again tomorrow. Take care everyone.
