Spring Into Summer Transparent & PNG Clipart Free Download - YWD

Well it’s the beginning of another busy week of learning. So lets get started- some tasks for you to complete.

It's Monday. Don't forget to be awesome | Picture Quotes

Activity 1Phonics Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | Shutterstock  New Sound wh

L.I. to understand that 2 letters can make 1 sound

S.C. I can say the sound to match the letter shape

S.C. I can blend this sound with other sounds to read words

S.C. I can write this sound

wh is a loud red lip sound. wh words often sound like w words when they are at the beginning of a word. Try blending these sounds together to make wh words.

wh – ee – l            wh  – i – p               wh – i – s – k        wh -i -s – p – e – r

A number of words with the wh sound at the beginning are questioning words. Have a go at blending these sounds together to make words.

wh – a – t        wh  – i – ch         wh – e – n           wh – e – r -e

Can you create a sentence for each of the wh questioning words? For example- What is your favourite season of the year? (remember when you are asking a question you always need to end the sentence with a question mark)

Now  practice writing the wh sound in your jotter. When you have completed your handwriting practice try Find and Write the “wh” Words from your learning pack.

Activity 2 – Reading Bookworm Clip Reading Clipart - Free Clip Art Images (With images ...

L.I. to recognise a pattern

L.I. to make 10

S.C. I can show the steps I took to solve a problem

S.C. I can explain why I did it the way I did

S.C. I can check my answers and make sure my answer is correct

Remember Number Talks are all about how to solve a task mentally, so for the activities below just use your brain!

Two numbers talks today the first one – How many dots are there and how do you see them?

The second one is a little bit different – the question (for each ten frame) is how many dots do you see and how many more to make 10?

Can you explain the strategy you used? For example, I may say “I see 4 dots and  I already know that 4 and 6 make 10, so I would need 6 more dots to fill the  10 frame.

Activity 4 –  Numeracy –   Free Subtraction Clip Art with No Background - ClipartKey

S.C. I can use concrete materials to “take away” from a number or a collection

I would like you to think about all the things you do that make you feel proud and then complete I am incredible because …………….. sheet from your Learning Pack.

Good Morning Boys and Girls!

Good morning boys and Girls, I hope you are ready for another week of home learning. Hopefully you all enjoyed the weather over the weekend and maybe got to finally meet up with some friends or family.

Let’s start off with a Monday morning assembly from the crew at Fischy Music. I have attached the link for last week’s assembly but, with the help of an adult you can follow the link to find this weeks’ (week 11).

Reading

Follow the link to access oxford owls e-books – https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book                The  is username  deans12         password mrsstevenson

‘No Tricks, Gran’

Before reading have a think about a few questions.

  • What is your prediction for the story?
  • Who do you think will be the main characters in the story?
  • What do we already know about Gran?
  • What do you think has happened to Gran’s arm?

With the help of an adult, have a read through the story. Before you start think about all the things a good reader does, can you share them with an adult?

Once you have read the book have a go at the play activities 1 and 2.

You can choose an activity from your home learning guided reading grid or perhaps why not draw a scene from the story and add in some more speech bubbles. Think about what the characters in the background might be saying or thinking in each picture.

Finally, log onto Educationcity and I have added a game called ‘The Pet Shop’ where you have to listen to a sentence then put the words in order.

Phonics

Our new sound this week is ‘j’. Here is a short clip to help introduce the sound to you.

Can you think of any other words which start with the j sound?

Here are some slides, can you identify the j word?

j can be a tricky letter to make sure it is facing the correct direction. Have a look at the slide below and see how quickly you can identify each letter. Think about how different each of them look. Try not to get tricked out!

Have a go at writing these J words. Have an adult read them out to you, can you hear each of the sounds to help you write the word? Draw a picture to go with each word you spell.

j – a -m            j – a – r          j – ee – p       j – e – t           j – u – m – p

j- u – g         j –  u – n – k

Finally, I have added a new game to Educationcity called ‘Jumping Jelly’. Good luck and have fun!

Dot Patterns

Here is another dot pattern number talk for you to have a go with.

Finally, I have set up another challenge on Sumdog, revising the properties of 2D shapes. Have fun!

Health and Well-being

When someone helps me, I feel………?

Can you finish the sentence? It’s nice when someone helps you or shows that they care. I’m challenging you to do one thing a day, that helps someone. Maybe it’s make your brother’s bed or fetch your sister a snack, maybe it’s even just giving someone a compliment. Showing kindness and compassion towards others is so important especially in the world just now! Here are some examples below, some you will be unable to do just now but don’t worry even one little act of kindness can brighten someones day.

Have a great day everyone! I’ll see you tomorrow on the blog.

P5/6 Monday 1st June

Maths: Finish money first and then move onto measure. I think all 4 parts of TJay 2a Chapter 13 (a,b,c and d) are useful. This will help support your work on decimals to 3 places. If you have finished these you could do TJay 2a revision work on decimals: Chapters 5 and 7

  TJay 1b TJay 2a TJay 2b
Money Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 7
Measure Chapter 15 Chapter 13a,b,c and d Chapter 13

Language: write a letter! Use your learning from the class, and the link below to inspire you. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-52709729

Health: Exercise with Joe.

I don’t think we have fully realised the potential of HotPotatoes. If you have not tried it, please do.

I also don’t think anyone has finished “Education City”.

We have to do maths, literacy (language) and health every day. We can, of course, do other areas of the curriculum as well. How we do them is up to us. I think these unusual times have given us the opportunity to use some unusual teaching and learning techniques. I think Devon and Zoey have been using “TikTok” to create their photos of themselves for “Teams”. Could we do something with “TikTok”?

Have fun, take care and hope you had a good weekend!

S.C. I can use my feet to measure a variety of objects

I would like you to complete Measuring using your feet, Page 9 from you Home Learning Pack. You may not have the objects that it is asking you to measure  so why not get inventive and measure things in your room/house or in the garden  The important thing is to use your feet to measure. Remember Heel to Toe when measuring. Challenge –  can you find an object and estimate how many feet long it is then measure it using your feet. How accurate was your estimation?

Activity 3 – Numeracy Illustrations and Clipart. 764 Numeracy royalty free .../hp/

L.I. to count a collection

S.C. I can use one-to-one correspondence to count a given number

I would like you to turn to Counting to 20 home activity 6 from your home learning pack. Try activity 1 – collect 20 pegs/counters etc. and make number cards 11-20 , lay them face down on the table, turn one over and count out that many e.g. if you turn over a card with 15 then count out 15 pegs/counters etc. You can challenge yourself by increasing the cards to 30 or 40 (make sure you have that many objects to count) Enjoy! Then complete the next part of the page how many apples? and draw……… apples. Activity 4 – Art and Crafts Arts And Crafts Clipart Png

L.I. to use a range of media creatively

S.C. I can use my fingerprints to create an effect

As it is Friday, I thought you might like to try a little art activity. Below is a picture of a tree, a very personal tree. It is personal because the person who painted it used their fingerprints to create foliage. So why not try to make your own personal tree. Firstly, you need to draw the trunk and branches (as below, you may need a little help) then using your finger tips dip them in print (Make sure you don’t use too much or you won’t see the lines of your finger prints) and lastly decorate the tree with them. Enjoy! Alternatively you could use different shades of green and create a background for your tree.

Have a fantastic weekend. Take care and stay safe and I will post more activities on Monday.
