P3 Art

We have finally reached the part in our novel, James and the Giant Peach, when the peach lands on the Empire State Building in New York.  We have been looking at the shape and form of skyscrapers, and in art this week, we have been making line drawings of the Empire State Building.
“it was hard at first, but it’s fun”  “can we try this again?”

We think our drawings are all unique – we hope you like them.

P3 use Comic Life in ICT

One of the highlights of the day today was using the comic life program on the laptops to make a comic strip.  We used some of the photographs we took when we made the peach crumble last week.  Although we need to finish off our comics, the children were very enthusiastic and commented “it was great fun”  “it was hard at first”  “can we do this again?”.

Our next step will  be to add speech bubbles to our comic pages.

P3 make a Centipede

Our class have been reading James and the Giant Peach and we have made a lovely centipede.  First we got a long piece of foam, then we used a blunt needle and string to sew 100 legs on.  Next we painted the centipede green.  We each designed 2 pairs of boots, and we cut them out and laminated them.  We had a challenge pairing up the boots and fixing them onto the centipede’s legs.  Last we added googly eyes. We had fun making it, and we are very proud of our centipede.

Peachy Writing from P3

P3 are working on the novel James and the Giant Peach.  We are enjoying the story, and we have reached the part when James has joined lots of creatures inside the giant peach. This week is Maths Scotland week, and in writing today we were calculating how many legs were inside the giant peach. We wrote lovely sentences, and gave our writing a peachy effect with sponged watercolours at the end.
