Foodbank Collections

Dear Parent / Carer,

We are organising a collection for West Lothian Foodbank again this year.  This will help to provide local families across West Lothian with vital support over the Winter period and during these uncertain times.  More information can be found on their website at https://westlothian.foodbank.org.uk//

A typical food parcel would contain a wide variety of items.  Some suggestions given on the website include the following:

Long Life (UHT) Milk                     Tinned beans                                           Biscuits

Breakfast cereals               Tinned meat (including Tuna)                   Pasta sauce

Soup                                  Tinned vegetables (including potatoes)          Snacks

Pasta                                 Tinned fruit

Rice                                   Tea or coffee

If you would like to contribute in any way, please send your donations into school with your child between now and end of February.  We will be following government guidelines ensuring the safe transitioning of goods with a box for each class to allow for quarantine.

Many thanks.

Ochiltree Term 1

Can you believe that it is time for a holiday again! It has been a very quick term and extremely busy. We are not complaining though and have been so happy to be in work and supporting the children here in school.

As you know we have been enjoying the topic of ‘Storyland’ this term and have had the opportunity to listen and explore the stories: Poo in the Zoo, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Elmer and There’s a Dragon in my Book. It is hard to say but I think our favourite has been ‘There’s a Dragon in my Book’.

We are also enjoying getting outside for lots of different activities making the most of getting some fresh air before it gets too miserable over the winter months. We go for a walk/cycle every couple of days and go out to the playground every day as well as gardening once a week and some outdoor learning when Catherine is in. Catherine has given everyone lots of different sensory experiences looking and using natural resources from the local environment to make perfume from flowers and also some baking with rhubarb from the garden and apples picked from a tree from a very kind neighbour.

Although we are not getting to move around the school as much as we would like we are still managing to hold a virtual assembly with Duntarvie every week and the children love seeing their friends on screen and participate in Fischy Music. Gordon and Aisling are also providing music activities weekly and this is a favourite of everybody in the class especially when we get to play some instruments.

It was fantastic to talk with some of you for our consultations it is just unfortunate we cannot meet in person at the moment but hopefully the day will come before the end of the school session! Fingers crossed you are all able to enjoy a holiday with some freedom and recharge the batteries for Term 2. Maybe get in some walking ready for our sponsored walk!
