Secondary Sport and Fitness Activities Part 2

We’ve been busy again in Secondary, keeping active and trying out new sports! 💪🏃‍♀️

It’s been great to see everyone getting involved, building fitness and enjoying a range of different activities along the way. Plenty of energy, smiles and team spirit all round!

Football at Broxburn United Sports Club ⚽

Archery 🏹

Golf at American Golf Driving Range ⛳

Dancing at DanceWorld Studios 🕺

And finally 2 weeks altogether at Deer Park Bowling 🎳

Cricket Festival

🏏 On Monday, three of our athletes took part in the first-ever Edinburgh Disability Cricket Festival at Inverleith Park!

Joining pupils from across the East of Scotland, they had a fantastic time — especially teaming up with pupils from Tynecastle High School. The day was packed with action as they developed their striking, bowling, catching, throwing and running skills.

To top it all off, we finished with a well-earned picnic in the park 🧺😋 — a perfect end to a brilliant day!

Wet Wheels Adventure

What a day—what a crew! 🚤✨ Who knew we had so many talented skippers in the making?

Two groups of pupils from both primary and secondary took to the water at Wet Wheels, Port Edgar—and it was unforgettable.

Everyone had a turn at the helm, and while we loved the thrill of speed, the highlight had to be spinning donuts and making waves! 🌊😄

We were even lucky enough to spot Derek the dolphin, along with seals and puffins! 🐬🦭🐧

Safe to say, the staff had just as much fun as the pupils! 😄🙌

MATP Challenge Event 🏅

On Monday afternoon we hosted our second Special Olympics Motor Activity Training Programme (MATP) Challenge Event.

Once again, our athletes from Hopetoun, Lomond, Pentland and Glendevon were absolutely phenomenal! 🏅

They shone with confidence and energy, proudly showcasing the incredible skills they’ve been working so hard to develop in training. Their effort and determination were fantastic to see — we couldn’t be prouder! 💪👏

We also loved reading the positive feedback about the skills your young athletes worked on – it’s fantastic to see their hard work and progress being recognised!🌟

Thought he done amazing.

It was good to see him trying to do something that requires coordination.

Great to see Matthew making such an effort to roll over and knock down the bottles!!

Really good to see Theas legs being worked and from bench.

It was such a busy afternoon, so a huge thank you to the parents and carers who shared photos — we loved seeing all the special moments captured! 📸

Finally, a special thank you and well done to one of our senior pupils who took on the important role of equipment assistant – your help made a real difference! 🙌

🌟 Well done to everyone involved – you were amazing! 🌟

Spring term in Hopetoun

What a busy term we have had in Hopetoun. We have enjoyed some of our regular activities like messy play when we have had lots of chances to get messy and taste some new foods. We have been learning how to look after babies and we had a visit from Baby Koa. We have been going to the local library to choose some books and we can check them out ourselves. We also had great fun doing some science experiments and we made some bang bag monsters and watched them explode then we made some giant bubbles in the garden. Some of us have been horse riding

For St Patrick’s day we went on a shamrock treasure hunt to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We had to follow the clues to find the next shamrock all the way to the pot of gold (chocolate) coins at the end .

This week we have made some Easter bonnets and had an Easter egg hunt as well as making some cakes. Have a lovely holiday everyone and we look forward to seeing how much fun we can have next term.

Lomond Term 3

What a busy term in Lomond this term.

We have been loving every minute of it! We have been enjoying the experience of upcycling and how we can reuse recycled materials to make a new piece of clothing. We have got to enjoy some sewing, spray painting, gluing with a glue gun, using an iron and exploring lots of different recycled materials.

At the start of the year we all joined in the Burns Ceilidh enjoying being part of the whole school and showing our dancing skills.

We had fun in February baking for the Healthy Eating Cafe and making our Love Heart valentine card with melted crisp packets.

On World Book Day we went on a book hunt and made some chocolate puddle milkshakes the same as Peppa Pig. We all loved using the switch to make the mixer work.

This week we are helping out the school and community while participating in our spring clean week. Lots of fresh air while helping the environment!

We are now looking forward to our Trashion show tomorrow to bring an end to the term.

Have a lovely holiday and look forward to seeing you all over the summer term. x

Ochiltree Term 3

We’ve had another super busy term in Ochiltree and have been working hard to complete lots of our ASDAN challenges. One of our favourite challenges was learning about jobs that people do in school and we think we did a fantastic job of helping out with them all. We also enjoyed our latest challenges which were all about being out in the community and we had lots of fun visiting the shopping centre, the Lanthorn library and the café at Excite. We got very creative when designing our own tartan sashes for the ceilidh and when making and painting our fruit bowls with the help of Potter Around. We’re loving the arrival of the better weather and are looking forward to more fun and adventures!

Happy Easter from Team Ochiltree!
