There have been a couple of wee changes to class team since the video and book were sent out over the summer so here is Duntarvie team for the session 20-21.
Welcome to Lomond!
It has been great to finally get everyone back to school and to begin to settle in to our new routines. This year the staff team in Lomond consists of:
Susan – Class Teacher
Annmarie, Natalie , Jacki, Tanya and Caroline – Advanced Pupil Support Workers
We have been so impressed with how quickly and confidently all the children have settled. It’s as though they have never been away. This term we are focusing on the theme ‘Storyland’ in class and will be reading lots of stories and exploring our senses through the different themes in the book.
Have a look at some of the thing we have been up to already.
Welcome to Duntarvie
Hello and welcome to Duntarvie class 20/21.
All the staff just want to say a well done to all our young people for coming back to school after such a long absence and getting right back into their routines and targets – well done.
We hope that you found the wee videos and back to school book helpful and are getting into the swing of using our new electronic diary system.
This term we have started off by exploring early literacy and sensory development through the use of our story land theme – Hazel does like a bit of mess so sorry in advance mums & dads! The class is looking forward to sharing some of our learning on world literacy day (8th September) through YouTube videos and will be sending home some fortnightly good work photos through journals too.
Looking forward to a great year in senior phase.
Welcome to Hopetoun 2020/2021
Hello from Team Hopetoun, our beautiful little lady and our handsome boys!
Hopetoun
Hello Everybody
Well, what a strange term this has been. We’ve all been very busy but at home instead of being in school with all our friends. I’d like to say thank you to all our children and families for participating so well in the activities. I know you’ve all been enjoying the videos. Thank you too for posting all your wonderful photos. It was so good to see those smiley happy faces and to see what you’ve been doing. Madison’s been doing lots of baking with mum and looking at her face in the photos, lots of tasting too! She’s been out on her bike and having lots of fun in the garden. Angel has also been an outdoor girl, playing in her garden on lots of equipment and riding her bike. She’s also been busy doing lots of building with her large sized building blocks. Hafsa has been in the garden too, relaxing in her hammock. She did some beautiful art and craft work and had lots of fun with her little sister. Pete has been doing lots of walking and helped make an insect home. More recently he had fun on his family’s boat. He’s been loving all the videos too. Tommy has found his feet and there’s been no stopping him. He’s been enjoying his paddling pool, a real wee water baby. He’s also been trying out lots of the posted activities and loves watching the videos. Matthew, I’m sure you’ve been having lots of fun with your brothers.
As I’m retiring I wont be in class when you come back in August, but I hope to come in and see you all.
Have a wonderful summer.
Take care and keep safe.
Love to you all.
Helen

Lomond – Summer is here!
I would like to say thank you so much for all of the support and joint working throughout this year and particularly during this final term. It has been unusual circumstances but I have enjoyed suggesting learning experiences to share at home. I have particularly enjoyed your messages, videos and photographs of all of the great things that you have all be doing throughout this time. You have all made myself and Team Lomond smile and should be very proud of the achievements made.
I hope you all have a lovely summer holiday and return to Beatlie in August, happy and healthy.
Happy Summer Holidays!
Team Lomond.

- Hello Song
- Bounce and catch
- Sing Charlie Over the Ocean. Watch the video first to see how to do it. Then you can get your own soft toys and join in or else watch and sing.
- Ride a Horse. Get a teddy bear or favourite soft toy to bounce on your knee for this song. Maybe a grown-up will bounce you on their knee.
- Funga Alafia: Copy the actions in the videos and join in this song from Nigeria in West Africa. The words are in the Hausa language and mean “Give us peace/ thank you thank you”
- Time to move. Play the instruments along to the video or get up and dance. If you like, get a scarf to play with. This week’s classic is Shiny Happy People by REM, with guest vocals by Kate Pierson from the B-52s. Can you copy the dance everybody does together?
- Time to relax. This week we are listening to a piano piece called aisatsana by electronica and ambient pioneer The Aphex Twin.
