Preparations for Christmas at Bankton

All across the school, staff and pupils are preparing for the celebration of Christmas. Thanks to Mrs. Connell and the Kitchen ‘Elves’ we all enjoyed a beautiful Christmas lunch yesterday. All children behaved as they would in a restaurant and thanked the ladies for their hard work.

The Kitchen 'Elves' - ready to go!

Nursery morning and afternoon groups have been rehearsing well for a lively Nativity which they will perform for parents and families on December 18th. P.1,2,3 impressed their parents and families with a confident performance of ‘Born in a Barn’ on Tuesday afternoon. P.1 assure me that today’s performance will be even better!!

P.3/4 and P.4 will launch their newly recorded CD at their Enterprise Showcase for parents tomorrow at 11.15. At this event parents will be treated to a live performance of the carols, followed by an opportunity to buy Christmas products made by the children. The event will start in the Great Hall and refreshments and stalls will be set up in the small hall after the performance. Please come and support your child.

Second level pupils impressed me so much during their rehearsal for the Carol Service that I had to stay and listen to their wonderful singing. The carols have been specially chosen this year to be uplifting so we can promise that you will leave our Carol Service full of Christmas Spirit! The ticket price of £1 includes refreshments in the small hall afterwards. Please make time to join us on this special occasion for the whole school.

P3/4 Welcome Back

It is our first week in P3/4 and we have really enjoyed it. We have been working hard to do the Cane Challenge but no group has managed to do it yet! P3/4 have really enjoyed working as team to complete their table poster. It is great being back at school seeing all of our friends. We have tried extremely hard to do very neat handwriting. P3/4 have had an amazing week spending time with our new teacher.

P5a’s Week of Talks

P5a have enjoyed listening to everyone’s personal talks with more to come next week. Thomas said he was very nervous doing his talk with everyone staring at him but he did a great job talking about basketball. Steven H said he was scared too. Ellis was the only pupil in the class to solve the number puzzle this week. Miss Henderson is still looking forward to winning this year’s challenge and can’t wait to see where the children are sending her on holiday! Josh has written 5 pages for writing this week. Miss Henderson hopes that there is quality as well as quantity.

P5a’s week

P5a have enjoyed designing their own mascots for the Commonwealth Games. This is our topic for this term.

We used our ICT skills to find out about the Scottish Parliament and the various meeting rooms. P5 are preparing for their own elections – they have designed a leaflet to promote their party and come up with their manifesto. Using persuasive language has been tricky. Ben M said, “Politics is confusing.”

Last week everyone enjoyed street dance, fencing, gymnastics and handball as part of Health week.

We also got to make our own paper which was part of Eco week, although some is still drying out!

We welcome Morgan, a new girl to the class.
