P5 Mary Queen of Scots assembly

Primary 5 invited their parents and carers into school last week to watch their fabulous Mary Queen of Scots assembly. We showcased what we had been working on in class and the audience was treated to drama, music and singing. We left everyone in suspense wondering what would happen next  to Mary as we haven’t reached the end of this project yet.

P6A Advertising The Market Garden

Bankton Market Garden Adverts

P6a were asked to make adverts to advertise the Market Garden. The Garden Groomers have been working very hard on keeping the fruit and vegetables fresh and tasty with the help of Mrs. Thomson. We split up into 4 groups to make the adverts. Each advert was a different theme. When we split up into groups a filmmaker called Andrew Low came in and showed us  the techniques to make an advert. He showed us flip books and pieces of film. It took several months to make the Adverts but it was worth it when they were all finished and we saw them all in our assembly.

Red Nose Day

Primary seven have been busy practising their weighing skills by making a variety of different cakes and biscuits in aid of red nose day.  This baking has been on sale every Tuesday and Friday over the past few weeks and has always sold out due to the fantastic support of the pupils and parents at Bankton so a big thank you to all who have sampled our tasty treats!

Primary seven would like to thank Mrs Thomson who has worked hard and has supervised numerous groups whilst baking.  Thanks too to Mrs Balfour who gave the staff a treat with a selection of home baking in the staffroom on Friday morning.  All this baking has raised a grand total of £109.35 for comic relief.   Well done to all involved!

Also, children were invited to come to school in their pyjamas on red nose day and everyone who did made a donation.  The money raised from this is still to be totalled and will be passed onto this good cause in the near future.

Why don’t you do something funny for money and help this very worthwhile cause?!

Thank-you to all the parents, grandparents and

carers who came to the P.3 assembly on the

‘Day for Change’.  £45.00 were donated to

UNICEF.

The P.3 children who went to Craigswood

enjoyed the morning by taking part in hopping,

skipping and jumping activities.  The other

children also enjoyed their visit to the pond.

P2 Update

We are still working on our Katie Morag topic in class and have been looking at lots of different Katie Morag  stories.  We are starting to look at weddings around the world as part of our work on Katie Morag and the Wedding.  In art we have been drawing portraits of Katie Morag’s family taking care to try to draw all of the features in the correct places.  These portraits are going to be used to build Katie Morag’s family tree.  Our classrooms are full of wonderful models of places from the Isle of Struay that we made at home using recycled materials.  We have been using the Beebots to create pathways and have even started to make our own mats to use with them.  They are looking so good that Mrs Sinclair is going to keep them to use another time too!  As budding designers we have designed new wellies for Grannie Island and new hats for Grandma Mainland.  They are a bright addition to our classroom displays.  We also designed new outfits for them when we created a collage of the two Grandmothers and filled in a blank outline making sure we thought about all of the little details we would need.

In maths we have been looking at adding on 10 to numbers up to 100.  We are so good at using adjectives that we are now looking at verbs in our writing.  A verb is a doing word and we have had lots of fun practising them in class.  We are enjoying being quizmasters for our spelling quiz during the week which is helping us improve our results in our spelling test.  We can only be a quizmaster if we get full marks on a Friday! Mr Muldoon is teaching us tricks from ball games in P.E. and in music we have been creating sound stories and also took part in the sign to sing world record attempt.
