Since the school has celebrated 50 years this year we are having an open afternoon on the 9th November from 2-4pm.
We will have photos, records, log books on show. We hope that many ex pupils and staff members will come along to reminisce and share stories.
We will be holding our annual fundraiser on Saturday 9th November from 10.30-12.00.
There will be saasarmeat and bacon rolls, homebakes, stalls, puzzles, games as well as our hampers raffle.
This year we are raising money to improve the acoustics in the hall. Currently there is nothing to absorb the sound, meaning it can be a very noisy place during lunch times and lessons.
The P7 Enterprisers will be selling their wares to raise money for their Loch Insh trip or staycation.
I would like to wish all our bairns and families happy holidays! Thank you all for your hard work and commitment to the school.
It is great to see everyone settled and learning in their new classes.
I am looking forward to seeing what next term brings. Never a dull moment at DPS!
The Community Council launched a competition before the summer asking the children to come up with designs to make the bins at our beaches stand out. You can see the winning pictures below. Each of the winners received a book token.
We all hope that making the bins more attractive will encourage people to be responsible and put all their rubbish in the bin.
We are very pleased to be able to share our Children’s Improvement Plan. Every child in the school has contributed to discussion around our improvement priorities.
Today in assembly we have revamped our school rules. We used to have 8 rules and none of us could remember what they were! I even had to count them.
When we looked at our rules they all fell under these 3 words:
READY RESPECTED SAFE
These will be our new rules – we can all remember them and know what they mean.
Please remember parents’ evenings are on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th October. This is a great opportunity to meet with the class teachers and discuss how your child is getting on in school. Mrs Leslie and I will also be available on the night. We really look forward to seeing you there.
There will be the Book Fair, tea and coffee and hopefully a creche (providing there are enough volunteers.)
If you are unable to make the appointment given, please phone the school office as soon as possible so alternative arrangements can be made.
We will have a Scholastic Book Fair at Parents’ Evenings. There will be lots of excellent books on sale.
There are still tickets available. Some fantastic raffle prizes on offer.
Sorry for the delay in the 1st blog post of this session. It is amazing how quickly the weeks are passing.
It is great to see all our pupils settling in to their new classes. Everyone seems to be happy, healthy and making the most of their learning experiences.
Please keep checking the blog posts. We have added a page for NOOSC and for PE and we hope to undertake staff training soon so they can begin posting.
