Up Helly Aa!!!!

Primary 3/4 have just enjoyed a fantastic trip to Lerwick for Up Helly Aa morning.  We managed to see the Jarl Squad and the Galley procession through the street.  Everyone thought it was really busy and exciting! Then we walked to the museum where we learned lots more about the real Vikings.

Trip to Scholland Farm

P2-3-4 had a super visit to the farm this morning,  We were lucky to have beautiful sunshine and learned lots about modern farming methods from Jamie.  Everyone had a great time and the highlight was being able to sit in the tractors and quads.

Croft House Visit

P2/3/4 enjoyed a super visit to the Croft House museum on Wed 31st May.  We were given a detailed and informative tour inside  learning lots about life in Shetland in the past.  Even the dull damp morning didn’t spoil their enjoyment as they loved doing the scavenger hunt outside and then playing hide and seek catchie in the croft house grounds!

Song writing with Claire White

We had a lovely afternoon with Claire White learning about the process of writing a song. Everyone loved her fiddle playing and singing and enjoyed learning about the story of Betty Mouat and hearing her song. Then we had a go at writing our own song lyrics. There were some super ideas and lovely Shetland dialect too.

Trip to Quendale Mill 11/05/23

We enjoyed another super trip out to visit the Quendale watermill. Joyce and John were great guides, teaching us about how the mill worked and the life and work of the miller and crofters in the past. There was so much to see that lots of people thought they would have to come back again.
