P6/7 Christmas Painting
The children have been learning how to mix hot and cold colours and have drawn and made collages of Christmas tree and star shapes to complete their Christmas paintings.
I have shown them how to design a Christmas card from their artworks. There are some beautiful arrangements all of them different showing their own creative responses to the lesson.
P1/2 Starting to work on their Christmas trees
P1/2 have been using crepe paper to collage with- to make their Christmas trees. Next week they will decorate their trees with painted baubles, a star and glitter effects.

Remembrance Clay work
P6/7 have been designing with clay on the theme of Remembrance linked to Armistice day.
P6/7 Have been choosing a butterfly from the tropical Rainforest to draw and paint
P 6/7 have practiced mixing colours by making a colour wheel.
P4/5 Have been looking at tropical butterflies from rainforests around the world
The children firstly practiced mixing colours for their colour wheel. Then they chose a butterfly to paint and these are the results. There are some lovely combinations of colours. All representing real butterflies from tropical rainforests around the world. They chose their own butterfly to study and paint learning more about them as they create.

The children have been exploring using oil pastels and watery paint the children have made their own wheat fields and thought about how we get our food. What we can make from wheat? How do we share our food?
….in our next piece of work the children were thinking about the shape of a hedgehog and where it lives. We know hedgehogs make their homes in leaves and long grasses or under wood for shelter. Most hedgehogs hibernate for the winter.

P4-7 Ship Ahoy display at Shetland Museum
P4/7 pupils from Dunrossness have their drawings displayed in the Shetland Museum as part of a series of displays on the Tall Ships. There are some amazing drawings to see. Why not go along and see for yourself.
