We are learning our times tables

sam_2902

We have been working hard to remember our times tables. P4 are learning the 8, 6, 9 and 7 times tables. We learned them in this order because we made links with the tables we already knew ( 8 with 4, 6 with 3.) We found the 9 times table easy to learn. Why was that P4?

P3 have been learning the 2 linked with 4, 5 and 10 and the 3 times tables.

We play games – Buzz and games on laminated sheets, and sing songs to help us learn the stations of the tables.

We use playing cards 1 – 9 to help us keep to the right order when saying 0 x 5, 1 x 5, 2 x 5 etc

What helps you learn your tables?

We have racing tracks on display. Every time we learn a times table and know it well we add a number to our race track and our car moves forward.

Callum is the first person who has completed his race track for P3. Well done Callum.

Lucien impressed us all by saying his 9 times table really fast. Well done Lucien.

Our pit crew for helping in our race tracks are our parents. So please continue practising these at home and we’ll get our race tracks completed.

Tesco are coming to Kingsland

In a change of plan Tesco are now coming to visit us on Thursday instead of us going on a trip to Tesco.

On Thursday two members of staff from  Tesco came to visit P4A and they discovered that pupils were able to have a better learning experience in the classroom than at the shop. So, we have decided to have staff from Tesco come to us.

Thank you to all the parents who had volunteered to help us walk safely to Tesco. We will not now require any helpers.

Scots Poetry Winners

Well done everyone for learning your poems. It was very hard to choose a winner and a runner up!

Our class winner was Rana and she stood up in front of the whole school on Thursday at our Scottish Afternoon and said The Sair Finger in a very expressive and confident manner.

Our runner-up was Joseph, who learned the poem Oh Ye Cannae Shove Yir Grannie Aff a Bus.

Rana and Joseph were presented with Burns Federation Certificates at the Scottish Afternoon.

We enjoyed Scottish songs, dancing, cello, recorder, chanter and Bagpipe music. What a talented bunch the pupils of KPS are.

Soooper Scottish Broth Making

Thank you so much to Mr. Morgan and Mrs. Hunter who came to help us chop lots of seasonal vegetables to make our delicious Scottish vegetable broth.

Mr. Morgan talked to us about the food he buys and how he tries to get local Scottish foods in season. What did you learn from this interesting experience?

Once again I was impressed by your fairness and your behaviour and your eagerness to try healthy foods.

Thank you again. I got to take the leftover soup home and I very much enjoyed it for my lunches.

Awesome Reality Adventure

Today we went under the sea on an ocean safari with Google Expeditions. We saw Great White Sharks, dolphins, humpbacked whales, Turtles – a hawk beak turtle, Whale Sharks, Manta Rays and divers.

Did you know little fish attach themselves to whale sharks and clean their skin by eating things that grow on them?

Did you know manta rays have marks on their belly? They are like our finger prints to help the rays know which one they are

We also went to Egypt and saw the Great Pyramid at Giza, the Sphinx and Cairo.

It was AMAZING, SPECTACULAR, EPIC, AWESOME, FANTASTIC.

Joseph said, “The best thing I’ve ever seen!”

Swimming on Mondays

Well done everyone for remembering your swim wear on Monday. You are showing me that you can be RESPONSIBLE.

I was impressed with your sensible behaviour walking to the pool and in the swimming pool including the changing area.

A special well done to those pupils who haven’t been swimming a lot and who persevered and enjoyed the success of lying flat in the water held up by a noddle. I am proud of you.
