9. One Year of Free Instrumental tuition PROJECT: (p4 & p5)

This year we were able to offer free weekly tuition to 584 P4 and P5 pupils on a range of musical instruments.

The instruction was provided on the following instruments: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet/Cornet, Horn, Baritone, Violin, Cello, Chanter and Snare Drum.

This project assists in the delivery of the music curriculum in a fun and stimulating way and contributes fully to the 4 capacities outlined in Curriculum for Excellence, providing a varied range of opportunities whilst contributing to the P6 target.

The principal aim in each school was to involve the pupils in practical music-making on their chosen instrument.

The best thing is that we all play it together and I learned that there is a smaller trumpet.  Lucy Catherine Reed – P5 Aitkenhead PS
