The first step on the musical ladder for our young woodwind, brass and percussion instrumentalists is the “Prep” band where pupils learn the importance of listening and working together as well as the basics of good performance technique in a fun atmosphere.

“The Prep Band” provides a hugely beneficial and enjoyable experience for all pupils learning to play a band instrument in North Lanarkshire.

“The Prep band” provides opportunities to forge new friendships and is probably the largest such band in Scotland.

Rehearsals take place on a Friday after school from 4.15pm – 6.15pm in Coatbridge High School where the pupils work towards a Christmas Concert in Motherwell Concert Hall and a Spring concert held in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
