2. Happiness

2.  Happiness

Designed to bring pupils from mainstream and special needs sectors together, this project focused on using the medium of music and movement to create a performance that examined the qualities of the Happiness.

Through music and dance the children explore what happiness means to them. Based on their words and movements a piece was created that represents how we are all interconnected and happy to be together. Health and well-being are key to the development of each child and this project underlines the importance of resilience and happiness in our ability to deal with adversity.

This project culminated in workshops with all 4 participating schools – Mavisbank and Drumpark schools from the ASN sector and Golfhill Primary and Orchard Primary from the mainstream sector – as well as a performance in Motherwell Concert Hall in May 2019 as part of our Summer Arts Festival.

It has been very touching and moving to witness the journey the young people have taken. It has been amazing to see the pupils from Golfhill Primary mainstream school & Mavisbank ASN school for children with profound needs work collaboratively. All the pupils have show respect and control through the music & movement. It is truly beautiful to observe this project.
