Monday
If you sent in a podcast script record it. You will find the script in the BBP channel in Teams. I’ve changed them so that they will fit together.
Take your time, use Voice Memos, you can pause at the end of paragraphs. Try not to hold your iPad or touch it. Listen to it an re-record if you are not happy. e-mail it to me.

Write down these words in your jotter:

listen to Chapter 9 – Tarbert – Windscape. Listen out for the words, pause when you hear them and write down what you think they mean beside them.

After listening use maps to find out where Tarbert is, there are several places called Tarbert in Scotland. How many can you find? Which one do you think is in the story? Use your knowledge of the story so far to figure it out.

Think about
- An opening to catch the reader’s interest and make them want to read further.
- Describe the setting and the main characters
- Describe the main events in a sequence (characters’ thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions)
- Using dialogue, develop characters’ actions, interactions and feelings

Listen to Chapter 10 – Boats and Birds – Windscape
Great skuas are interesting birds. Find out more about them. Create a piece of informational text or a fact sheet about them. Remember some of the features of informational texts.
- A title which informs the reader about the subject
- An introductory paragraph which informs the reader what the report is about
- Use headings and sub-headings
- Write in an impersonal style – no use of personal pronouns Use topic specific terminology and vocabulary
- Use appropriate graphics to give additional information
- Usually written in the present tense and the third person
- Sometimes written in the past tense (eg. an historical report)
- Description is used for precision rather than to create an emotional response
- Acknowledge the source(s) of information
