Playground trees

This morning we were finding out about the trees in our playground.

We measured the height of trees with our clinometers.
We measured the circumferences of the trees and used a webpage to estimate how old the trees were.
We took photos of the trees, their leaves, bark and fruit.

Skills: maths skills: measuring, calculation to find out the heights. Team work. Taking pictures. Web browsing.

Abacus maths- Zara and Emma

We learned how to multiply on an abacus with 1 and 2 digit numbers. We watched a video online and practised until we figured out how to do it. After we told the class how to do it then we went round some maths groups. Then planned our own video explaining how to multiply with 1 and 2 digit numbers.

Long Division in the Sun

Awe took advantage of the weather to get out and discuss how to solve long division calculations.

I  a quick play with the newish clips app at lunch time, I hope the Biggies will be able to make better movies than this.

3D shape movie

In maths we had made movies about shapes and the nets how they fit and join together. We had to make it with different shapes.

They were made by the app the lego movie, what you would do is you would take pictures of the shapes and move them around to make it look real.

You could add music and different themes to make it look so cool.

Mr Johnston had put all of our short movies in to one big movie and I posted it on the Banton biggies website on glow so we can all see it.
