Super Signing in Room 2!

Language is a vital means of communication.

As part of our Health and Wellbeing lessons, we have been looking at different ways which we communicate with each other.

We have been learning some sign language in class and at our assemblies with our Makaton ambassadors.

Have a look at some of our emotion signs below.

Well done everyone – super signing!

Children in Need

Room 6 have had an arty week supporting Children in Need and getting sorted for the upcoming Christmas fayre.

On Friday, we came to school dressed in our best spotty clothes, yellows or dressed down in support of Children in Need. We had an input explaining what this day was all about in assembly before completing some Pudsey challenges. In the classroom, we had a great afternoon designing our own Pudsey masks. The Head Boy and Head Girl had also assigned us a challenge to design our own Children in Need t-shirt, which we really enjoyed. We liked sharing our ideas and designs with our classmates. Room 6 also got a chance to visit the bake sale for some yummy cakes!

Yesterday, we began making our Christmas crafts for the Christmas fayre on Saturday. We used salt, water, flour and cookie cutters to make some salt dough Christmas tree decorations. We can’t wait to paint these later in the week! Have look at our craft so far.

Below are some comments about our learning this week.

BMcI liked making the Christmas crafts and I’m looking forward to painting them.

DTI liked doing the Pudsey masks.

SJ I liked seeing my leaf up on the wall.

MMI liked doing the autumn leaves.

HG I loved doing the walk to school survey everyday.

BMI love our new doubles song.

RF – I liked doing the Christmas crafts with everyone.

SG I liked what you said at parents night about my drawings.

QO I like doing the addition sums using doubles and near doubles.

AbSI loved doing the doubles work for maths.

ARI liked doing our Christmas craft yesterday and I chose a reindeer.

CM – I liked doing the Pudsey masks.

Have a fantastic week!

Our Learning in Room 13

Literacy
Room 13 are absolutely loving having Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone read to them during snack time. They have recently completed a piece of writing where they were tasked to write a character description for Rubeus Hagrid. Their writing was full of interesting adjectives and many supported their descriptions with evidence from the story – amazing job!
The boys and girls are now in the process of using everything they have learned during our topic time to plan and write an information report on Ancient Egypt.
Numeracy
This term Room 13 have been working on mental addition and have just started mental subtraction. Many in the class are now making valuable links between the two operations. For example:
if 35 + 6 = 41 then 41 – 6 = 35
Look out for work coming soon on ‘Fact Families’
IDL
Room 13 have really enjoyed their topic on Ancient Egypt. To conclude the topic, the class will be turning their information reports into their own individual paper books!
From now until the end of term, Primary 3’s new topic will be “Christmas Around the World” which will tie in with RME.
I.C.T/Technology
Room 13 have been busy learning about the different functions on Chromebooks and IPads. Last week the children took part in an IPad photo challenge where they learned how to photograph and delete images. This week the children will be working on Chromebook’s to learn how to reply to an email and send an image as an attachment.
DESERT ISLAND
Last month, Room 13 were introduced to a fun ‘brain break’ activity called ‘Desert Island’ and they are loving the challenge! I will let the children explain the rest…

Recently in Room 11✏️

Hello Everyone!

Firstly, thank you to all the parents and carers for your attendance at parents night last week. It was lovely to catch up with you all.

Recently in Room 11, we have been learning how to write a character description. We talked about what a successful character description might look like – discussing the characters appearance and personality as well as, structure.

We have been thoroughly enjoying the story of The Twits by Roald Dahl and used this as our inspiration.

Children in Need

Room 5 have had a busy day marking Children in Need. We all dressed up in yellow or spotty clothes and some of us even wore spotty ears and accessorised our outfits. Thank you for your fantastic efforts today, you all looked super!

We started the day off at assembly, where Mrs Robinson told us all about Children in Need and why we mark the occasion. After lunch, we attended a bake sale and got to purchase a yummy treat and enjoy it in class with our friends. To finish the day, we took part in a challenge created by our head pupils. We had to design a new Children in Need t-shirt. Here are some of our efforts below. I think they look brilliant, well done Room 5.

Thank you to all parents and carers who attended our Parents’ Evening last night. It was lovely to meet you all in person and discuss your child’s progress and learning. I hope you found the appointment informative and if you need any support or assistance in the future, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

If you purchased any books from the book fair online at home, please bring in your forms with your order details so that the correct books can be distributed when they arrive. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Have a lovely weekend everyone! 🙂

Room 1

Good afternoon,

We have been very lucky to have a football specialist in for a block of football over the past few weeks. This week we were focusing on our dribbling skills and shooting skills. They were shown to use the side of their foot when moving with the ball and to take little touches. The boys and girls also enjoyed working in teams and scoring lots of goals at a target.

Have a great weekend!

Thank you

Mrs Ventre
