Learning Updates

Yoga

We had a go at relaxing and improving our flexibility during yoga.

I liked bending my body into different positions. I thought it made me feel calm. (Ellie)

Money

We created 6 money stations in the classroom to help us learn to use money.

I liked moving to the different stations. My favourite station was number 2 because I got to pretend to buy different objects using £1. I couldn’t go over the £1. (Millie)

Drama

We read a book about a shy girl who had a few friends. One of the friends was unkind to her by not inviting her to her sleepover. This made Daisy feel very sad. We had a go at acting out the story in small groups.

I liked having the opportunity to act. It was more fun than I thought it would be (Leo).

Social Studies

We have also been learning about life in the 1960s.

I enjoyed the lesson we did about Rosa Parks. It taught me about how I should treat other people. I found it interesting. (Layla)

I was shocked when I learned that black people had to sit at the back of the bus and had to give up their seats if a white person got on. (Max)

Our Week in Room 16 20.11.23

Apologies for this delayed update, we had such an exciting Be Bright day we forgot to press upload on our blog. What an exciting week we have had this week in Room 16!

We have expanded our knowledge and understanding of the nurture principles for our school by creating visual communication cards that we will present at next weeks assembly.

We have also challenged ourselves in areas of French and Numeracy by trying addition and subtraction sums in French! We have found this so exciting and we are surprisingly finding a lot of success through using a different language to think about our number strategies.

We have been continuing with our rugby efforts in PE and have moved onto defending our teams from attackers through playing our ‘break the wall’ game, we have had so much fun!

We have continued to bring in the festive spirit by finishing off our Christmas baubles for the fayre and have selected our songs for the Christmas show, we are already making great progress in learning the words and actions.

Our highlight this week has to be our 1960s inspired science lesson, in which we experimented how rocks (meteorites)  and sugar cubes (the moons surface) interact when they collide, we discovered the fine substance of moon dust through our active learning!

To end our week we had a fabulous turn out for Be Bright day to bring awareness to road safety week, our efforts were brilliant, well done!

Wear it Bright 😎🔦

Today we had a very bright and colourful day in Room 5. We dressed up in our brightest clothing to raise awareness of how important it is to wear bright clothing when we are out during the dark Autumn/Winter months. At assembly, our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) presented great information and also provided suggestions of appropriate clothing to wear to help cars see us when it is dark. Thank you for your fantastic efforts today everyone!

On Wednesday 29th November, we look forward to seeing some of you for our parent/carer reading event. This is an opportunity for you to come and spend some time reading with your child in class and explore the contents of this years book bags.

Tomorrow is our school Christmas fayre so please come along if you can. We have been very busy creating Christmas tree decorations and we are very proud of our efforts. 🎄🎅

Wear it Bright in Room 4

We have had a great day in Room 4 celebrating Wear it Bright Day!  We loved seeing all the boys and girls bright and colourful outfits – you definitely will see them in the dark this evening.

We are looking forward to welcoming as many as can come on Monday morning for our Book Bug gifting session.  We can’t wait to share our new books with you all.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.  I now need to try to “debright” before attempting my weekend shop!

🦺 Be Bright Day 24th November 🦺

November 24, 2023 by Miss Napier | 0 comments

Well… Our Be Bright Day as been an incredible success! It’s been amazing to see so many of our pupils in super bright and reflective clothing to raise awareness of staying safe and seen in the darker months. The JRSOs and WOW ambassadors have been very impressed with the effort that everyone has gone to. Thank you parents and carers with your help in this too!

The JRSOs have been visiting all pupils at their assemblies this week to talk about road safety and staying safe and seen too. They’ve put in a huge amount of effort, along with the WOW ambassadors, to organise the event.

Each class has now had their brightest winners announced and the brightest staff have been selected as well. I think you’ll agree they look dazzling 🤩 These winners received their goody bags and certificates today and came together for a big photo.

Every pupil in the school also received a reflective pack/keyring to take home, courtesy of our fabulous parent council. A huge thank you to you for helping to make our Be Bright day an even bigger success.

Our Week in Room 21

November 24, 2023 by Miss Napier | 0 comments

This week in room 21 we completed our Christmas craft which were our cute little gonks! Make sure you come along to the fayre on Saturday 25th to buy some!

For our WW2 topic learning this week, we took part in the Dynamo Challenge. We had to work in 3 teams (land, sea and air) to consider how we could rescue the troops that were stranded on Dunkirk Beach. This was from the view point of being officers or officials in the navy, army or air force. It was really tricky trying to think of the best thing to do that would save the most amount of men.

On Friday we celebrated Be Bright Day. We got given reflective keyrings from the parent council and the brightest winner from our class was chosen. It’s been a busy but fun week!

Room 1

Good afternoon,

Today was Wear it Bright Day. The boys and girls enjoyed learning about the importance of wearing bright clothing at night. We discussed that when we wear bright clothes it helps cars to see us when its dark. All the boys and girls were also very excited with their gifts that will help them to stay bright when out at night.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Thank you

Room 27

This week we have been exploring the nurture principle of language is a vital means of communication.  We began by working in groups to gather ideas on how we communicate.  From this we realised that we communicate in lots of different ways apart from talking.  To put this into practise we had a no talking time on Thursday morning from 9am until 10am.  During this time we had to use other ways to communicate including writing, Makaton and facial expressions.  It was a great experience and everyone managed to stay silent during this time!

Another way we had thought about communicating was Braille.    Lucy and Mrs Anderson from Room 22 kindly agreed to visit us to tell us about Braille.  They told us all about Braille and how Lucy uses this to read and write.  Lucy demonstrated the Brailler and a couple of children even got the chance to try it out.

Have a great weekend.
