Room 23 – 12/1/24

I hope you all had a wonderful break, we are back with a bang in Room 23!

In art we created winter scene prints 🥶

We learnt about creating a positive maths community in our class. Many of us, whether we love or dislike maths, were able to identify ways in which we can approach challenges with a different attitude. We learnt that depth is more important than speed, learning is more important than performance and best of all, mistakes are fantastic for your brain! We feel ready to take on the challenges of multiplication over the next few weeks. ➖➕🟰➗

Also special shout out to our superstar Harley. We are so excited one of our classmates is famous and made it in the paper! Read about his inspirational story in the Glasgow Times newspaper. Harley we are so proud of you ❤️ Thank you for sharing with us, how lucky are we to have you in Room 23!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Welcome Back! :)

Happy New Year everyone!

We have been excited to get back to school this week and begin to learn new skills and concepts this term. Today we were treated to a very special surprise, a panto in school!

L – It was brilliant.

F – The panto was a one hour show. The sisters were making fun of our school uniforms and it is not our faults.

S – Two people were very mean to Cinderella.

G – It was the story about Cinderella. It was really funny because he tried to marry a shoe.

H – The characters names were Cinderella and the Prince Charming.

R – They were very funny because Prince Charming tried to marry a shoe.

A – At the pantomime they didn’t want to share their sausage rolls.

R – The two girls weren’t letting Cinderella go to the ball.

C – The prince was about to lick the shoe.

H – The two sisters, one of them burped really loudly and it was really funny.

E – The princess lost her shoe.

L – Cinderella’s sisters were calling us names.

It was a fantastic panto and we certainly had lots of laughs.

Our Week in Room 16 08.01.24

We have had an exciting and welcoming first week back after the new year in Room 16!

We have started our new topic, which will focus on ‘all things Japan’, the children will be documenting their new knowledge and learning into group floor books as a group project, which the children will have complete and total creative control over. The children were given an introductory explorative lesson about Japan and were asked to create a cover page featuring all the things they already knew about Japan, don’t these look fabulous!

For numeracy, we have started our new topic focusing on time, the children have created a learning wall which shows visitors what we know, what we want to know, and how we will learn these skills.

Room 15’s Week

Room 15 have had an exciting week starting our new Japan topic. The pupils picked ‘topic groups’ to work in and created amazing Floor Books to store and record all their findings while learning about Japan. We had fun creating these and then learned all about Koi Fish and how they are celebrated in Japan.

Dynamic Earth With Room 27

Happy New Year!  We hope you all had a lovely time during the holidays.

At the end of last term we had a great trip to Dynamic Earth.  We started our day in the Planetarium and learned about stars and the Northern Lights.  After that we completed a workshop about lots of different types of natural disasters.  Following lunch we went back in time in the time machine.  We then went through the exhibits and saw things from the past, experienced an earthquake and got to touch a massive iceberg!  At the end of the trip we visited the rainforest and learned about some of the animals that live in the rainforest.

Welcome back!

Welcome back and Happy New Year! ✨
Room 6 have had a great first day back and have enjoyed sharing all of our stories about what we got up to during the holidays. Yesterday we spent time working on sentence building to share our news, trying our best to remember capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We also did a bit of revision on our phoneme sounds from last term by working together to make up word grids.
In Numeracy, we did some revision of addition to 20 and shared our learning of this with the class. We also had great fun completing a very competitive game of Hit the Button, both against each other and Mrs Rae. We are getting quicker and quicker when trying to solve these problems mentally.
This week we will continue to consolidate our previous knowledge before moving on to new learning next week. Here are some of our comments from yesterday’s learning:
BMc, AS, HG and OM – I really liked the maths lesson because I like maths.
RF – I looking forward to doing homework again.
BrMc and SI – I liked playing Hit the Button because some people were winning.
QJ – I liked doing free play because everyone can play with what they want.
DT and JR – I liked the free play as well.
DMc – I liked doing all the maths.
We can’t wait for another super term!
